The dungeon is Stones Throw’s record warehouse where we operate our online store.
Ross Harris came up with the casual idea of filming one of our producers playing beats in the warehouse. The video, Jonti – Hornet’s Nest (Live), worked out well enough but we didn’t do it again until another few years later. Next time around we came up with the title Dungeon Sessions. First up was Knxwledge and Anderson .Paak in their new collaboration as NxWorries, performing “Suede” and “Link Up.”
Next up: Pearl & The Oysters performing “Pacific Ave” and “Konami” from their Stones Throw debut Coast 2 Coast, released April 21, 2023. “Pacific Ave” was written about JuJu and JoJo’s move from Florida to Los Angeles while “Konami” ( “small wave” in Japanese) was influenced by JuJu’s white noise machine and its “surf” setting.
