Silas Short‘s debut album is LUSHLAND, out April 25th on Stones Throw.
Back in 2021, Silas packed up what little he had into his car and drove to Los Angeles from Chicago for two reasons: to be closer to Peanut Butter Wolf and to essentially live at Stones Throw Studios. LUSHLAND is four years in the making – it packs a lifelong love of neo-soul, classic R&B, hip-hop and funk into 12 songs – a passion passed down to Silas while growing up in Milwaukee and playing in gospel bands with his dad.
“GUY” is out now, a song about wanting something more from a girl who keeps things focused on late-night calls to come over instead with a video directed and edited by Ross Harris. “GUY” follows previous Silas releases “L-TRAIN” – a love letter to people watching in Chicago, “ILIKEU” – a light-hearted note to a crush, and “My Conversation”, a cover of The Uniques’ 1968 classic for the Oscar, Bafta, and Golden Globe-winning film A Real Pain.
