Long Live J Dilla. Every February 7th marks the birthday of James Dewitt Yancey and the album anniversary of Donuts. This year we’re celebrating Jay Dee’s 51st with a new song from Karriem Riggins, Westside Gunn, and Busta Rhymes (the rapper with the most J Dilla beats).
Dilla and Karriem collaborated extensively while they were coming up together in Detroit. After Dilla’s passing in 2006, Karriem paid tribute to his friend and mentor on “J Dilla the Greatest” on his 2012 solo debut album Alone Together.
