He’s been known to get busy with pen & ink whenever he’s around some blank 12-inch sleeves. Here’s some of Egyptian Lover’s custom sleeves, photographed here at Stones Throw HQ, to the sounds of “Egyptian Lover Theme” from the anthology Egyptian Lover, 1983-1988.
Egyptian Lover writes, “I made this for the Breaking & Entering soundtrack [in 1983]. I filled my 808 up with beats to dance to and for Ice-T to rap to, then we went into the studio. The Glove and I scratched on top of the tracks and I recorded the whole soundtrack in one day and then DJ’d later that night. Those were the days of having fun and being super creative.”
Egyptian Lover will be performing with Ice T and Uncle Jamm’s Army in Los Angeles as a part of Red Bull Music Academy’s Los Angeles festival in October. Details on that, and other dates below.
