Michi‘s tired of “Playing Pretend”. For her new track from her upcoming debut album Dirty Talk, out February 28th, Michi shot and directed the visual at her favorite beach. Michi calls the song her “baddie track” – an honest admission of how hard it is to leave an untrustworthy lover even after they’ve shown their true colors. “This record has taught me a form of self-trust, self-belief,” Michi says.

On Dirty Talk, Michi showcases her love for ’80s and ’90s R&B and Motown, reimagining each with her modern touch. “Playing Pretend” is the fourth single from her new project following “If You Want Me”, “There’s No Heaven”, and “Snoobie”. You can check out Michi: The Knxwledge Remixes too, which pairs GRAMMY Award-winning producer Knxwledge with three of Michi’s recent releases.
“I didn’t realize how empowering it could feel to throw ass on my favorite beach in the morning light while someone jogging watches, I might need a new laptop but wouldn’t take the experience back ever,” Michi says. “As artists we forget just how much we ourselves can create when simply tapping into authenticity and ignoring the doubts.”
Michi is playing a headlining show at The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles on April 10th. Tickets here.
