Pre-order Vinyl: Lionmilk – WHEN THE FLOWERS BLOOM
WHEN THE FLOWERS BLOOM spirals through different emotions – from the deepest sadness to the happiest bliss, and everything in between – with Lionmilk paying tribute to “the family that we choose and don’t. I always fall back to the people I trust and love in a time of crisis or in low points during the journey.” “all i have” follows “get high”, a gently anthemic tune which he called his “heartbreak song.”
Lionmilk produced, wrote, and performed every instrument on the album. Each personal story is told with a different musical style: “only one” calls back to Lionmilk’s DIY and lo-fi roots; instrumental “tom is in heaven” pays tribute to a family friend who introduced Lionmilk to jazz; and “não mais saudade” focuses the Brazilian concept of saudade (longing) onto a story of relationships.
Even when Lionmilk’s going through it, the songs stay light – as he puts it, “a ‘cheer up’ for my depressed ass.” As he grows and learns, everything comes full circle in an eternal bloom. Stay tuned for more new music coming soon.
