Campus Christy is a collaboration between Stones Throw Records’ founder Chris Manak aka Peanut Butter Wolf (vocals) and Brian Ellis (instruments). Their first song together is “Very Complex” featuring Piya Malik of Say She She with a music video directed by Nedda Afsari and Michael E. Linn.
Nearly 25 years after his 1999 release of My Vinyl Weighs a Ton, Wolf has formed a brand new music project, reinterpreting lesser-known tracks from the late 60’s to early ’80s. Campus Christy revives his high school garage band moniker, a niche ode to the past.
The “Very Complex” visual features a cast of extended Stones Throw family members like Jerry Paper, Izzy of Automatic, Bardo of Chicano Batman, and Shags – as well as Wolf’s actual family. His daughter Una created the “Very Complex” single artwork.
