Chris Manak (aka Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf) and Brian Ellis’ are Campus Christy.
On their latest track “Candles,” they’ve teamed up with Say She She for a new song and video. It’s inspired by early-80’s synthy spiritual electro-funk, and is the fourth song to be released following “Very Complex,” “Fly” and “The Visit”. We also have a new 12” single up for grabs along with the instrumental version and an exclusive bonus track, a mid-70s sounding jazzy prog psych song “Beginning Again”.

“Candles” came about after Chris showed a demo version to Say She She member Piya Malik who had previously collaborated on a couple of other songs on the project. At that point, it just had Chris’ vocals on it and he told her he was gonna scrap the song because it didn’t fit the rest of the project, but Piya convinced him to keep it and suggested her group Say She She to sing co-leads with him.
The music video was directed and edited by long-time Stones Throw collaborator Ross Harris. Wardrobe by Sister Kokoro. Egg by Lauren Dahlberg.
