We’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of Haruomi Hosono’s cult-classic Tropical Dandy with the first-ever international reissue, out July 25th on Stones Throw. You can pre-order vinyl today in Ocean Blue or Classic Black, each pressed in 180-gram vinyl in the US featuring an exclusive OBI and an updated translation of Hosono’s liner notes from the 1975 edition.

On Tropical Dandy, Haruomi Hosono shifted toward genre-bending, fusing exotica, jazz, and pop – eventually laying the groundwork for Japanese City Pop.
This is the second time we’ve collaborated with Hosono – last year we released the Hosono House Revisited compilation with artists like John Carroll Kirby, Pearl & The Oysters, and Jerry Paper reworking their favorite songs for the 50th anniversary. We recently released some official t-shirts, too.
Haruomi Hosono will play a rare show at the Royal Festival Hall in London on July 19th. Tickets are available here.
