About five years ago, J Dilla's younger brother John "Illa J" Yancey released an album under the name The Yancey Boys – himself singing/rapping over a treasure trove of previously untouched Jay Dee gems from the Delicious Vinyl vault. The instrumentals made it out on vinyl but seemed to disappear overnight. It's taken a while, but the beats are finally back on wax, getting double LP with white vinyl treatment.
Five years is not so bad considering we waited a whole decade for Jay Dee's 48 Hours Instrumentals to emerge.
