Josh da Costa – New Wave Graveyard

Josh da Costa‘s solo debut New Wave Graveyard is out July 24th – imagined as a “greatest hits from a parallel universe, classic songs from an alternate reality.” Josh says, “Instead of trying to home in on one specific vibe or sound, I chose to sort of work my way through my own taste and record collection and try out different approaches to songwriting – as if I were more than just one artist.”

Nothing lasts forever, but New Wave Graveyard bottles the feeling of being there, where the magic happened – even if that place is entirely imagined. It’s a celebration of strange people met once but never forgotten, of shows and parties you attended or wished you had, of being young and earnest and a little bit weird. It’s played totally straight but never takes itself too seriously – a mix by turns charming and surprising, but never confusing.

New song “Proving Me Right” follows the first track, “Skygirl”. Josh says “Proving Me Right” is “about the type of person who plays the victim because that’s how they get off. Thriving on chaos and confusion as a means of creating passion and intimacy. Drama addicts.”

Josh da Costa has been opening for Drugdealer on their US tour and will play at the Fonda Theatre in LA on May 22. Buy tickets here.
