Brainfeeder & Stones Throw teamed up yesterday out at Palm Springs for an afternoon party near the massive Coachella Festival. Everything went down at a house arranged by Dipdive & Blackberry. We're not sure "house" is the right term since this joint had it's own lake and airstrip, complete with small aircraft taking off in the background. But our sound system was loud enough that we didn't hear anything but the music.
Teebs, Egon & Madlib started things off early, when most people were still scrambling for drinks and a safe piece of shade. A confused festival-goer stumbled on stage to ask if we could play some "cool Coachella stuff instead of this elevator music." Strictly elevator.
Flying Lotus and Erykah Badu wrapped up the day with a preview of some of the new material they're working on together.
On stage throughout the day or simply nearby it: Dam-Funk, Gaslamp Killer, Samiyam, Peanut Butter Wolf, Matthew David, Mono/Poly, Daedalus, Ras G and probably many others who we're forgetting due to sunstroke.
