Creating a niche outside the shadow of his older brother Madlib, Oh No has been just as innovative in the hip-hop realm. He built a reputation from the ground up through a early collaborations – Lootpack, Murs, De La Soul, even composer Galt MacDermot on the album Exodus into Unheard Rhythms. Then, a series of stellar instrumental album – Dr. No’s Oxperiment, Dr. No’s Ethiopium. The more recent fusion with Alchemist as the group Gangrene and his reworking of Strong Arm Steady’s recent album as Stereo Jr further fuels his acclaim as one of today’s most exciting beat makers.
Oh No has now started the year with Disrupted Ads (Audio Dispensary System), a conceptual release of beats based around television commercials, which showcases the skills of his inner circle of collaborators – Blu, MED, Chali2na, Roc C, Alchemist, Declaime, Georgia Anne Muldrow to name a few.
