Dam-Funk will be a guest in Todd Rundgren's band on a North American tour – just Dam, Todd and two backup singers – Spring 2015, in support of Rundgren's 25th studio album Global. Tour dates below.
On the surface, there may not be an obvious connection between the two musicians, but for years Dam has been including Rundgren music in DJ set and mixtapes, and naming him as a key influence. In a 2009 interview with LA Record he was asked about his connection with music of Todd Rundgren.
"He has heart! It wasn’t about hits, even though he could make hits." He continued, "That’s the aesthetic I like to align myself with. Hits are hits, and they’re great. But the music I gravitate to, it’s not on the radio. I always wanna do music for that person who was me. That kid who ventures off looking for music that touches their soul."
