Welcome to the Stones Throw family, Josh da Costa. “Skygirl” is a first taste of what’s to come with Josh’s debut solo record, out later this year. Josh says: “‘Skygirl’ is about starting fresh and new beginnings. A new romance or love that can help usher in a new chapter or life phase. Moving on.”

Josh adds: [the song is] “a blissed out guitar frenzy that evokes a lot of feelings I’ve had since I was a kid, watching shows like The Adventures of Pete & Pete and listening to Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins and The Stone Roses. This is my attempt to fuse those things into something that could fit at home on Flying Nun Records alongside bands like The Clean and Chug and Bird Nest Roys. I thought the song title sounded like a generic ’90s song. It’s also named after the compilation Sky Girl, an amazing record.”
