This record has the distinction of being voted the #1 Stones Throw release by the magazines Murder Dog and Metal Edge, the only time the two publications have reviewed the same record, much less agreed on them. Based on one hit 7-inch single – My 2600, the first of Stones Throw’s 45 series – Funkaho developed a cult following which crossed the musical genres of hip hop, electro and punk, and across most social & class structures. This 12” single was the direct result of the growing cult's request: “More Funkaho!” These three tracks were recorded in Oakland, CA, using one drum set, one cassette deck for pause-edits, and two Marshall stacks. The original press sheet may have overstated things a little, but it read, "Villain Style is a hard-hitting disco track with metal guitar that makes the past few year’s of rock-rap acts sounds like Simon & Garfunkle. But Funkaho doesn’t rap – he doesn’t need to. This is not your average artist on a hip-hop label, or any label. Think Wolverine from X-Men if he had been an Electro artist instead of a Canadian mutant."
