Challenge: can you roll a spliff on an MP3?
- February 20, 2013
"You can't roll a spliff on no MP3"
This is the opening line of The Lions' "This Generation". We tend to agree with their statement. At least, we've never seen it done. But the members of The Lions, all 10 or 11 of them, are even more adamant about this assertion. They insist it cannot be done, it's impossible. And they're even willing to back it up with a challenge.
The challenge: Can you roll a spliff on an MP3?
If you can, and you can prove it with a photo or video, let us know by contacting us via email, Facebook or Twitter. The first person to roll a spliff on an MP3 will win a live show by The Lions right in your living room. (This is a great live band, by the way.) Stones Throw is backing up the challenge by offering to throw in a copy of The Lions This Generation 45 box set. Contest rules below.
For the rest of you whose spliff-rolling skills are not up to the task, come join us for a live show at The Lions record release party in Los Angeles, Tues, Feb 26
The Lions (live), PB Wolf (DJ), Peaking Lights (DJ)
Center for the Arts Eagle Rock, 2225 Colorado Blvd, Eagle Rock CA
Feb. 26, 8PM-Midnight / Ages 21+ / $10
Free drinks by Golden Road from 8-10, or until we run out.
Also: Feb. 22nd tune into NPR's "World Cafe" with David Dye and listen to The Lions live in studio.
You can't roll a spliff on an MP3 challenge rules: No iPods, computers or other devices may be used to aid the rolling - it must be done directly on the MP3. The winner will provide his home address to The Lions, who will play a 30-60 min live show on the date of the winners choosing, within one calendar year of this challenge. Winner must provide spliffs for the band and crew. Must be good weed. If the winner lives outside the greater Los Angeles area, winner must provide airfare for band and crew. The Jamaican guys fly first class - rest of the band is OK with coach. If the winner lives outside of the greater Los Angeles area, band members and crew will have to sleep on your couch. Good luck!
