-EL-{P} destroys on "Company Flow" Funcrusher Plus, lyrically this is his best album. He made some adjustments later on down the road, but i respect the fact that he seperates himself from garbage rappers (lil wayne, 50 cent, any wack crap rap on Mtv or Bet.)

-Cannibal Ox "The Cold Vien": EL-P Produced this entire album. The beats were amazing> Iron Galaxy, raspberry fields, B-Boy Alpha, pigeon. He doesn't flow much on this album, but it was Vast aire and vorduls LP.

-Mr. Lif: I phantom: The Beats he produced for Lif were straight fire...I love this album (Have'nt heard Mo' Mega Yet...)

-FANTASTIC DAMAGE: HITIN YOU IN THE HEAD WITH PLASTIC MAGNETS....another ground breaking album from EL

He has done alot of other work with different artist, but those are my favorite albums hes blessed.

I hate El P. His beats are nice but I just can't get over how hard he sucks at life. One of my friends got that revenge of the robots or whatever the fuck that dvd is with him on it and the scene where he is bragging about punching the guy because the guy was talking shit on "such a personal song" or whatever was just sad. Seriously, Stress called PA Mr. Cocky but I think El-p takes the cake here. Anybody that pompous and into their own life that they can't accept someone not appreciating the personal value in their work needs to learn to get over it (and probably needs to have a nicer flow because El-p's rhymes for the most part stay weak... really really weak).
I hate most the guys out of that crew though, the only acceptable artists from that camp to me are Mr. Lif and Murs. I could be wrong but I don't care to dig any deeper into that 18 year old (for 18 year olds) bullshit whiny ass record lable. Might as well be emo music.

Yeah, El-P can be a cocky ass dude (he's like the opposite extreme of Kany West somtimes with his "I'm the shit swagger"), yeah his rhymes and some of his production can be a little lame....

but THIS is THE SHIT:

Do you know who you are..
Do you know who you are fucking with?
Do you know, the access, to weapons, money and power
that we have? We will fucking kill you!

I'm the ugliest version of passed down toxic capitalist
rapid emcee perversion -- I'm America!
Your bleeding-heart liberal drivel gets squashed
Wash em with sterilized rhyme patriot-guided weaponry bomb
from the makers of the devious hearts -- I'm America!
You bitchy little dogs don't even phase my basic policy
The bomb's smarter, my Ronald Reagan's crush Carter
With Bay of Pig tactics makin young men into martyrs
(Come on down!) Come to my happy promised land
Smiley faced opportunity cypher
and jump on the CoFlow pension plan
A proletariat, crushing State of the Union
between serpentine words and mass confusion
of media controlled blurb advertising disillusionment
Your family will love my low-rent, low-life
no-brain, reality-dagger, MOVEMENT
Hop over the border for amusement; try to test the waters
that the other slaughter crews pay all they dues in
You up against -- Jesus Freak, formin corporations in Young Republicans
Indelible NATO force hidden agenda, puppet governments
I'm lovin it! Keep the people guessin who I'm runnin with
Control the population and hide behind sacred covenants
Fuckin with me?!?! Means liberal wildlife burnin, gasoline seized
and an automagnetic third world printed with metal plates in they knees
Can't you hear the disenchanted, hide the scream of
Gabriel's reflected new wind instrument, a judgment played in flat C
I replace humans like robots in a GM factory (warning! warning!)
Then export metaphors to sweat shops, cause the price is satisfactory
Your pious little cries of injustice get met with apathy
(Awww, SHUT UP!!) Soak, cloak, hormone injected dairy product
and conservative right-wing anti-eroticism; the poisonous
resevoirs and power lines in your neighborhood cause botchilism
SENSELESS! Join the census, censorship sentences sentence
Triple-felon citizen paid pennance!
Dissension against C-F ends in, penetentiary residence
Lock em up first, then ask questions
Omniscient presence, my CHARM is the weapon
with cameras mics and satellites that leave privacy breathless
You don't even know the chemicals you've ingested
Urine tested -- BEAT INNOCENT MAN 'TIL HE CONFESSES

"Who's America? Who's America? Who's America? Who's America?"
"Who's America? Who's America? Who's America? Who's America?"
[El-P] I'm America! I'm America! I'm America! Mr. Len, get busy on em!

Invite you to cross the border then SHIT on your divinities
What language is that? I'm angusih in fact, tangle with a

You just stepped into the spectrum of paranoid word rainbows
Thinkin you sick with a sihlouette, burn transit cop out his plain clothes
I'm America!! This is where the pain grows like poppies

one of his best lines ever.

i think he can come through on some ryhmes, and his beats are the best (for being so dark). so sometimes its hit or miss on his songs.

He's a great artist, some stuff people feel, some stuff people don't feel. And as far as his attitude, yeah, he can be pretty ego'd out but, I think that is a biproduct of (almost) single handedly making underground hip-hop a viable force in the marketplace, while still keeping your underground integrity. Not to mention that he started a TRUE indie-label (during a time when that was almost unheard of) when he was like 18 fuckin' years old.

I think El-P can spit when he wants to, though. I mean c'mon check this Simian D shit below:

Illicus, spillicus
Plus funcrush that's killin this
Willingly similar pendages
Filling this blank page with syllabus
Centuries certified murder hurts
Best when flesh left on quarterized
Labeled my words in the dirty earth
Feelin this

And if people think that his shit is gibberish, then they better say the same about MF Doom, too.

I actually haven't heard him freestyle. Where can I?

I really don't hate on people who can't freestyle, I mean, it's just a different style and I don't think that MC's should be required to do it. It's like saying "Crazy Legs can break but have you seen him try ballet? He sucks". Actually, it's not that extreme of a difference but, I'm just trying to say, I don't really care if a certain artist can or can't freestyle...unless, of course, the dude thinks he/she is amazing with the freestyle flow and actually sucks....then it's worth noting.

But, yeah, what track or where can I hear El-P free?

On the same note, has anybody ever heard kweli freestyle? He spoke at my school last spring and during the Q&A a guy asked him to freestyle. It wasn't bad, but it sure as hell wasn't good, either. I dunno, I just expected a little more from him.

I heard him freestyle on a fondle em single with Search, i think. It was a while back but he was pausing and drifting. I think you can hear him on an old Bahamadia mixtape, but the name eludes me.

I'm not hating on him at all. Just criticizing. His subject matter and surreal kinda style I appreciate.

Oh my bad, I didn't mean for it to come off like I was accusing you of hating. Nah, I was just saying that good MC's don't have to be good at freestyle to be a good MC, in my book.

Thanks for the heads up on where to hear El-P choke on the freestyle tip though, I look forward to hearing it.

i was at the show where el-p punked the dude in the audience. he was drunk and acting a fool. definitely deserved the verbal assault el-p gave him. it would be like someone yelling at nick drake while he was on stage.

el-p's got mad rhymes. i am surprised that you guys wouldn't like him. i see a lot of similarities between him and mf doom. and seeing how you guys jock everything that ever comes out on stones throw and you are doom fanatics this surprises me.

That clip was from "Revenge of the robots." That portion of the dvd has EL-p, vast, aesop, and most the jukie's talkin about life, their music, and the state of hip hop which was great because you don't really here from them behind the music. check out the DVD if you're a fan of HIP HOP, its nice..

It's like El-p lowered the lights, the mood came down, the crowd chatter died down and he told us he was going to play some serious shit, then this one dude is just acting out. i just meant that i am sure a nick drake show would be very mellow and calm and if some guy started acting like a dumb ass then im sure he would be carried out. probably not attacked by nick drake though. it was more the environment i was comparing not similar artistic qualities by any means.

Given his strong beat legacy, I highly doubt El Producto is concerned about being remembered for his lyricism or delivery...

Just curious though, who are some Beatmaker-Lyricists that equally hit the mark on both production and rhyming??? Would Edan be up there?
