Sugoi, are you saying that you think the new sample P.I. posted is basically the same as the first..?? if so I am not sure I agree with that (though I just quickly scanned the song) but it seemed better...

T! obviously they aren't the same, in the way my first keyboard's 'samba' beat was different from the 'polka' beat. there is no wool obscuring my vision...

thanks matti for the song

HA HA HA..!!

nah, nah - my bad -- I didn't mean to ask if you thought they are the same song, but if you were saying that they had the same faults...

I found P.I.'s second sample to be better -- but it still sounds synthetic to me as the first sample did -- ugh -- live instrumentation must never die..!!

dude, you killed me with the keyboard "samba" and "polka" beat shit -- classic..!! ha ha

2 cents:

1) no reason to complain about a sample. the record doesn't make the beat--YOU do!

2) no reason to hoard samples (even if you're getting money for beats). the record doesn't make the beat--YOU do!

3)if he didnt want to use something from his exclusive vaults he could have just got sumthin from one of the many blogs out there (as mentioned by someone else)

hell yeah!

but let's not be so quick to judge...

the slightly misleading 'FROM POTENCIA INCISIVE'S VAULT' song, the first one, has some faux harpsichord? at the start which could be fashioned into some bass. it's so emotional, like an olympics opening ceremony!

the second offering, which is to music what protheses are to flesh and bones, i felt had a lot to offer nonetheless in terms of tight drums, some gillespie-esque horns and buena vista social club percussion.

On closer inspection, with such a scope to work with here, i feel truly blessed. i really hope i destroy it this week so i can post this wicked call waiting music we have at work.

respect!

Okay, basically, the sample's shit. The guy's just being arrogant, and not the funny type of arrogant. I know he thinks he's big or whatever; he survives off selling beats allegedly. And I think he may be having trouble the "fire" metaphor.

the record doesn't make the beat--YOU do!

You may make the beat, but you have to agree that the sample does contribute a considerable amount. :) I hate this whole "I can make a beat out of anything" attitude some people have. Yeah, anyone can make a beat out of anything, but it doesn't mean it's gonna be good in the end. Why would you sample something that you know is shit? It may be your beat, but it's the other person's music that is basically shaping it.
