How about adding the option of a Guilty Acapella to the mix?

This is the one from that remix battle that someone posted a little bit ago...

Guilty acapella

It's in WAV format...

ZOMBIE -

Why don't ya give it a try in terms of making it work for you? In all honesty, I don't always like the sample choice, but I take it as a challenge and try to do something with it anyway. Sometimes the results are pretty decent...sometimes not so much...but at least ya tried.

yeah i know dude, i feel the same way as far as challenging myself. but any time i try wit hsome of these sample choices i just cant get loops or breaks or anything.

maybe ill give it a shot-but ive been scanning everything since about #42 and just havent come up with anything, ha

this sample is amazing....it doesnt contain alot of variation but the sound is great and it has its pearls...
its pretty heavy and loaded with instruments though, so i dunno im kinda stuck at trying to make a smoother sound
just wanted to say...the acapella is perfect for this sound...guilty was a great choice
too bad i already started mine at a much faster tempo i dunno if i have the energy to start a new one (or does anyone have any suggestions how to make it work, part from speeding up the acapella? im pretty new at mixing with acapellas..)

Well, I'm having my usual problem coming up with variations...but it fits the acapella nicely...gonna go back and read the comments and advice in the last battle to see what I can do...

Heh, even after all that last week, I'm in it so deep this week with the no variations thing... lemme tell ya... well, here's what happened. I grabbed the sample, it sounded cool, chopped some loops out, was getting all ready to use them, when I decided to get the Phat Kat / Guilty track lined up to a drum beat so I could make sure I was working at the right tempo from the beginning - I didn't want to spend a long time working on a track only to find it was really hard to get the vocal to line up.

So I make this beat, and right out of the box it sounds dope to me with the vocal. Now, I'm a big fan of simplicity, and a fan of raw ass tracks where someone's just rhyming over a bangin' drum track, with no bass or other samples or anything. And that's what I ended up with. I tried to drop some of the loops I took over this, but this beat just doesn't go with that sample at all.

So I might be bailing on the beat battle this week, 'cause I'm getting all into this remix (sparse as it is), and it probably ain't gonna use the sample.

But the point was, seeing as how it's just a drum beat with NOTHING else, there's literally zero variation in the whole thing. But check it out anyway...

Raw Xmas Nightmare

...it's the last one down... I still might be adding a lil' something to the chorus, but like I said, I'm really feeling this one raw as hell...

(As it is a work in progress, feedback is well appreciated...)

Got a lot to do tomorrow, so since it's Friday on the East Coast, here's my battle entry...I've given up on trying to force more variations for this week...it just doesn't seem right with the acapella...maybe part of me is usin' it as a crutch...but fuck it...I can be honest with myself...I like the track as it is...

45

Enjoy.

Daayummmm....

nice sample this week and some of these beats are fire...I wish I had time to drop somethin, the guilty accapella is nice.

be back tomorrow with some feed and maybe a late beat...anyway I'd rather post nothing this week than post up a drum-only track in the battle thread... seriously though Deez last week's feedback from you was really good... (was planning on revisiting some of that thread next week) now i don't know what to believe. :) that drum loop is dope but so repetitive man for that length of time...had my head noddin...to sleep. lol anyway i thinkin maybe you shouldn't let the acapella drive you to the battles next time around....it's easy to get lost in almost any rhythm with a dope mc over top. i wasn't completely buying your explanation/excuse. no beef all veggie. :D

Welcome to the battles 2 Mello ....some serious competition right there...

One more thing - Sub - when's the last time you missed a week? impressive...dope entry this week. i'll save the critiques for tomorrow gotta go...

Thanks for the props...as for your question, I dunno really...I try to make it a point to enter every week, even though I don't always feel the sample...I guess I like the challenge...

I'll be postin' feedback tomorrow on everyone's stuff...
