Yo...what had happened in the thread to get it taken down?

ST Bot...if you're out there reading this hit me up by PM or somethin and lemme know so we can avoid a repeat...

Or anyone else that knows for that matter...I'm confused.

EDIT: Just saw the thing about the server switch...no worries.

BTW...what'd ya'll think of the idea of doing the remix battle of the American Gangster album? I'm not really a big Jay-Z fan, but adding those acapellas to the mix could make this battle interesting.

If you're up for it, I got dibs on "Fallin"

There were a few replies to this earlier...the consensus was nay for this week's battle...work had already been put in on some non-emcee friendly beats.

Remix battles are fun because you dont necessarily have to go with the entire acapella track...you can chop it up and mix it in...you can scratch it over the top...plus it's a variation we havent done for a while in the battles.

O it's like that, huh. I was just saying what a few posters said before the board hopped on the DeLorean.

If you guys really want to do remixes than nobody is stopping you. i'm taking this as a direct challenge so I"ll throw up a remix and instrumental also...

If we really wanted to do a mix of the whole album, it would make sense to use more than one or two samples.

Hahaha...don't take it to heart man. We can start next time.

But as far as remixing the album...maybe we should do some sort of secret santa shit to distribute sample tracks or something. Maybe make it aside from the battles? Each person takes an acapella from the album...each person uploads a sample track to Zshare or something...then at random they can be re-distributed to people to DL and remix their acapella with...

or something like that.

TK brought up a good point...no one is gonna want an entire album of Jay-Z remixes with the same sample track as a base...lol...

^^^word.

I like the album remix idea...I guess samples would be wide open, and even some of our synth-only breth could join up.
I didn't take it to heart, just thought it was a little bit a cheap shot--but--it might be true of some producers on here I dunno.

Hey, that's not necessarily true... it's kinda like a concept album, like the Grey Album, for instance... the whole point would be that it's the Jay-Z remix album made by the STMB Beat Battlers, and as such, since for the battles we all use the same sample source and try and come up with different ish, that could be the concept of the remix thing. Different producers using the same source to come up with different sounding tracks for the remixes.

No?

Ok, here it is... TK, man, I loved that O'Rourke song, I can't tell you how many times I played it over this last week. But... I couldn't fit it into my track. So mine is all about Wig's pick. And Bazaco, I wanted to throw some of your drums in there too, but the track just ended up with this mellow vibe, and the stuff I had of yours was just too energetic to fit in. I'll try again next week...

But for this week, here's Shades of Jade.

Grey Album is a bad example, Steez. Mouse had the entire White Album to use as a source, ya know? Not just one track. I think if it was a track with enough variation it would work, but it would have to be an epic track...

I'll gonna submit my track later and check the rest of these out...

Yeah...it's tough to mix these samples for sure...especially for someone like you who generally doesn't use much fx. I was able to get them to work together but I had to decimate the O'Rourke track...yeah it's a great tune and I hope somebody flips it! I already apologized for the lack of good open breaks on the O'Rourke track...I was away from my records and had to find something!
