Ok folks...ended with a tie on #40...

Soleil and I will each post a sample.

Rules are the usual...

Open drums...

Limited synth...

Limited vocal samples & cuts/scratches...

Any questions about what's OK, ask here...

Post your beats on FRIDAY (not before) unless you have a really good reason to post early...

Post on Myspace or Soundclick so people dont hafta download your beats...

Will post my sample once I find something worthy of your attention...if Soleil posts first, feel free to start and I'll post when I can.

Give ya'll a head start...

Brian Bennett - Discovery

(Tried uploading it to jayred's site, but it wasn't showing up when I'd check for it...)

So Soleil...if you wanna post one that complements this one, contradicts this one, or even an acapella track (we havent had a nice remix battle in a while) go for it...whatever's clever.

Good luck ya'll!!

hey, thanks for the votes everybody.

My choice is a song from one of my favorite guitar players, Gabor Szabo (for me Szabó Gábor, since I'm hungarian too), hope you'll enjoy this one. Its so out there for me, damn, love it.

Get it here.

First I thought about Art Ensemble of Chicago but that would be crazy, maybe next time

Can I put a MED accapella over mine and a skit with Madlib and Quas going to a record store?

Seriously though, I'm done with mine. ;)

I think it's called "Solstice" and "Discovery". It was released twice. However I knew it to be a library song but someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Reason 2.5 (gotta upgrade soon...) pumped direct into Cubase SX. I do the drum and loop sequencing in Reason, on both the ReDrum and the Dr. Rex, but I really am not into Reason's mixer or the way a Reason song sounds rendered (or mixed down, or whatever you wanna call it), so I bypass the mixer and ReWire every sound separately into Cubase and do all the compression, fx, EQing and mixing in Cubase. But seriously, Recycle + Dr. Rex = my shit. That is by far my absolute favorite tool. I get all Fenster with that shit - I'll flip ya... I'll flip ya fo' real! Sometimes I use the Reason synths / samplers, but I also have VSTIs in Cubase for that stuff...

Yeh it was originally a Library track, then it was released as 'Solstice' on 'Voyage (A Journey Into Discoid Funk)'.

I'm back this week after moving house and not having the internet etc. Loving both the samples. Also, for the guy that asked, I use an MPC2000 classic with only the floppy disks and a PC that is on the brink of death. I am awaiting a Roland SH-09 synth in the post though. Shit is going to be awesome.

In the hood, we call that 'raw dog'.....Yo' check this beat I made, raw dog as fuck, last night....

...Sike, people don't say that, and I don't have authority in the hood.

I think it's cool that you just use what you got though. Whatever works.

I'm not going to have anything this week. Last couple weeks of the quarter, and I got couple 5-6 page papers due in the next few days. I haven't really started on them either. haha.

I was having mixing issues with this one. My main sample had too much bass and it would take too much time to fix it but here it is anyway.....It doesn't even matter. I turned the mp3 down so you may have to turn the stream up....I'm kinda dissappointed...not in the beat but in the mix.

Too much bass.

My beat is here - www.myspace.com/estalldub

I'll give my vote to anyone who can decipher the "vocal". It was a little experiment that didn't really work out. Thought I'd leave it in there anyway, warts and all.
