Pardon the random Wikipedia facts for each beat battle number...

Anyway...here's the tally:

Bill - 6
soleil - 4
Josh G - 2
RUNE - 2

So Bill gets sample choice this week.

Try to post it up as soon as possible...if it starts gettin' late, then soleil gets to take over on sample choice.

Be sure that when you post your sample, you also post general rules about synth usage, vocals, etc.

Beats are to be posted up on Friday, voting saturday.

Totally struggling... so far I got a decent 4 bar loop (decent, not great), but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to go anywhere... But, you know, challenging yourself is a good thing. Right? :P

I also seem to be struggling with how to get the quote function to work porperly on this bitch...

If just want to quote one post, click the "reply" button under their post. For more than one you need to click the "quote" button on each of the posts you want, and then click "add reply" at the bottom.

No knock against this track Bill, but it's got so little variation, and the stuff that is there is tough to sample up...lot of vocal overlaps...tough loops...gonna take a lot of synth work to make it work with what I'm doing...hope that's OK.

Anyone who uses FL Studio have suggestions on ways to stretch short (talkin' < 1 second here) cuts & samples into longer, more useful notes and playable synths? I've tried runnin' stuff through the slicer, but it always sounds so crappy and grainy.

i usually use the granulizer and use a slice stretch ..but sometimes it does the same thing if your trying to stretch it way too much

Right, ok.....I cant really comment on the sample problem, as i have not had a go with it myself yet, so i dunno if i agree or disagree with y'all yet. im working till 5 tommorow but i will see if i can do a quick one when i get back.
my thinking was that the sample had some nice chunks that could be used as full chords, pitched up or down and chopped in a different order to create a loop.....like what josh g did with last weeks sample.

oh well, see what you can do anyway.

Not as bad as you made it sound like it would be....not crap.

It would be a cool trippy interlude beat or somthin' to drop a Quas accapella over....
