Hehe...OK...Bill took #36 (6 votes)...

He has until Sunday at noon eastern time to post a sample...

If he doesn't, sample choice falls to Knowledge (3 votes) or WigMaster (3 votes)...whichever is quickest to post up.

EDIT: I sent out 14 invites to cats on Myspace that had Dilla listed as one of their influences...maybe we'll see even more new faces next time?

Upload the samples to http://www.upperbase...STMB/upload.php

Then you can download them from http://www.upperbasement.com/STMB/

Let me know if there are any problems.

Firstly, big thanks to everyone that listened and voted......Good amount of people played last week, hope to see you all having a go this week too.

I slept bad last night so i have posted something up nice and early for anyone who fancys a bit of sunday beatmaking. The sample i have chosen is 'Les McCann - Seems So Long'...which you can download from the link above......thanks to Jayred for the hosting, saves a whole lot of hassle.

Rules:
Use the sample provided, use it however you like, use any drum samples you like, synths & bass are allowed, plus scratches and tiny vocal snippets, but nothing else.

Post up your entry on your myspace/soundclick/virb whatever (if possible - file sharing sites are abit tedious) on FRIDAY 2nd NOVEMBER 2007, not before.

Sounds like this is gonna be a fun one...good sample choice Bill...

Oh...and I second this: "Post up your entry on your myspace/soundclick/virb whatever (if possible - file sharing sites are abit tedious) "

Makes it a lot easier to check out tracks...

I like the sample, and I actually took some time today to work on it, not too far from having a worthy entry :D
Might have to post early this week tho, but we'll see about that.

Pretty much...unless there's some reason you won't be able to post on Friday, you should wait until then.

My theory on it is that if everyone posts on the same day, it tends to level the playing field a bit. That way people dont listen to your track a few days early and then go back and change what they made to make it better than yours. I like hearing what people come up with on their own...without having heard others' tracks...

Quick question (I'm new to the board.) Is the battle open to anyone (like myself) or is it invitation only? Do you need to hear some of my beats first? My bad, that's 2 quick questions lol.

P.S. Dope sample pick. Did anyone notice who sampled this before?

Nah...according to www.the-breaks.com this sample hasn't been used yet. Other songs from the album have been used to death though. Surprising that this one is underappreciated as it is though...it's full of great stuff to sample & loop...
