Here's my SHORT beat, lol. You can listen to Sub's beat 1 time or listen to my beat 4 times! :)

TKurata - Gunga Din

http://www.myspace.com/tkurata

Sub--Nice work...yeah I'm surprised how much you abused that "beautiful" flip...lol. nice variation, though, good drums. nice!

Knowledge--good first entry, nice sample work it sounded pretty natural. a little repetitive. welcome to the battles, nice job!

...hell yeah it looks like the battles are being reborn, awesome!

Not My 1st Entry.

Woah!!! Lots of people!!! NICE!!!

Yeah...that vocal sample became less of a vocal to me the more I worked with it...I started using it in the verses as almost another percussion instrument to make the verse flow better...in the hooks though I wanted it to be more of a vocal sound.

BTW...the full sample is Cee-Lo saying "Some of the most beautiful things come out my mouth..." on "I'll Be Around."

EDIT: I'll post my thoughts on the other beats in a bit...

It's not loading for me...just get a blank browser window for like 5 minutes, then it says the site isn't available.

You wouldn't happen to have a Myspace would ya?

My thoughts on the ones I could hear...so far...

TKurata - Nice stuff! I like the dialogue sampling in there...had a nice interlude kinda feel...your tracks never disappoint me...

jayred - Pretty cool stuff...like the way the intro worked...also like how ya got that sample to work for ya...a little repetetive (just like mine...and I know it's my weak point) but overall good sounds.

AeorosolBreath - That off-key sample on the 4th part of each loop had me feelin either some Portishead or some of that Muggs vs. GZA shit...at least until that other sample dropped in over the top later on...nice vibe on that shit...

You're right on time. Entries can come in until midnight tonight...

we vote tomorrow...

EDIT: Interesting track...I lost touch with the overall rhythm at a few points, but it had a cool vibe to it.

Good to hear someone using that epic shit...

Interesting track...wish I coulda heard ya use more of the samples though...that epic track was really limiting when I trie dto use it...thus the intro to my beat (that was all I could really come up with from it)...

I do like your drum work later in the track...

it sounded a lot better on wednesday.
yesterday i came home and was like 'ah i gotta make this shit more complex' and made it kinda wack.
without some of the conga fills it sounds better.

...ummm...ok? Sorry, I guess I must have missed your first entry, before my times I suppose.

Man I was reallly digging this, but i wish it was more than just that loop for 3 minutes.

Thank you...the whole track is only 1:20 in length, though. I agree there really needs to be a breakdown or something but I just didn't have the time...I could expand the track later for a breakdown or for length...ya know? In my defense, I added much more than just that lead sample--a lot of textural touches/samples that are almost too seamless...but they are there..I'm obsessed with texture, eats up alot of my production time! ;)

@tkurata: nice work...

thanks AeorosolBreath!

Ok ya'll, I am excited to hear the rest of these, i'm gonna wait til I get home from work to blast these into my dome...I like listening to these in headphones in the red for that full effect...

Looks to be an awesome week, though, ok I'm done rambling!

Practice makes perfect man. Probably the exact reasno to enter this contest. You hear the samples and hear at least 5 or so different uses of those samples. It allows you to do reverse engineering and learn how people do shit you wanna learn.

I did that with a lot of dilla and madlibs work. I would hear thier shit, then Id hear the originals, "ahhhhhh thats what he did"

Yup yup...from when I started doin these battles to now I've grown quite a bit. Every noe & then I churn out something I'm embarrassed to admit is mine, but it's a learning process...and so far no one here has ever been a dick about it...everyone is cool and down to give advice...

So, due to working, girls and my persistent drinking habits, this is late and totally unfinished. I probably spent about 2 hours on it in total. Also, due to lack of cables things were bounced a bit funny from my MPC and then roughly put back together in Logic. It's not quite what I would have liked. But enough with the excuses - www.myspace.com/estalldub for the tune. Hope I'm not disqualified for being late. Will comment on other folks things later. Sounding good.
