I watched Fantastic Planet (La Planete Sauvage) the other day. I love it and I think half the reason I love it is the music.
I got the soundtrack and I can't stop listening to it. Surreal/creepy funky stuff by a guy named Alain Goraguer.

Anyone else know some weird 70's movie soundtracks similar to this? Or just soundtracks you like is fine, too.

La Planete Sauvage has TONS of dope samples in it...

But like you, I'm curious about other good soundtracks...

I know the Mahogany soundtrack has a few dope tracks, but the rest of it is pretty lame...

'superfly' curtis mayfield is a classic soundtrack.

john williams, jerry goldsmith, alan silvestri & james horner are my favorite film composers, so i like all of their stuff.

'the gladiator', 'gangs of new york' and 'the matrix' and all Hayao Miyazaki films are some really good soundtracks.

yep, the song is by the pixies and it's called where is my mind

but it's not on the original soundtrack itself, the original soundtrack only contains the dust brother tracks

another good non-dust brothers tune in the movie was "going out west" by tom waits... dope

Yeah, that's part of the reason I watched it. Once I heard the sample from "Come On Feet" in the movie, I had a little "ah-ha!" moment. Yeah.

I need to mention Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro's soundtrack. Has interesting music...

bullshit. pardon my french. the "dawn of the dead" ost is great from start to finish --- theres also killer tracks on these:

Posted Image -- "flashing" is hard as fuck!!!

Posted Image

Posted Image -- plenty of drum heavy badness onm here . put a track on a mix a while back.

Posted Image --- "snip snap" is a funky-prog-break classic

Posted Image

plus loads of other bits and bobs. theyve done some rubbish but so has every band ever....

no bullshit at all... there are tons of better bands and soundtracks, even italian soundtracks... for the most part goblin are kinda cheesy... comparing to bernard hermann's scores for vertigo, psycho or twisted nerve goblin are just extremly poor...

oh,.... i forgot to mention the taxidermia soundtrack done by amon tobin, that's fuckin great stuff...
