hey subbasss,

what inspired you to use 9.11 sounds for the first beat?

i like the "texture" of the sounds, just not the context, i dont think that they match the feel of the other wise happy song.

anyways, i ask because i haqppened to watch feirnhiet 911 the other night then subsequently watched a bunch of 9.11 mini documentaries on youtube.

coincidence?!!!!

perhaps.

Aaaaaaiight.

Still Smiling in yo face..

It might sound fucked up, I've only heard it on low volume, and on crappy headphones..I feel like I need some more thump in my kick and whammy in my snare..

Man, I think all of these are good, and all very different..despite the few entries (so far), the overall dopeness is pretty high..

So that personal touch stuff turned out in the opposite direction, no beats sounding alike..

Originally I had a sample from a different record, but I fucked that one up in terms of the timing and didn't want to wait for it to load again. I remembered that the 9/11 anniversary is comin up this week, and remembered that I had copies of the 911 dispatch tapes & fire/ambulance communications from the attacks. Figured I'd go through and find something profound. I don't play those back very often (I think this is the 2nd time since I got 'em), but it gives me chills when I hear it.

yah,
its cool in terms of the sound,
the texture of their voices thru the walkie talkies,
but to me, i just dont think that the actual topic of concersation suits the song.

Taza - Damn...had that old-school feel goin' but with a modern twist to it...woulda liked to hear some brass synths or samples kick in to take a lead or something, but it's good shit regardless...

Josh G - HOLY SHIT!! REALLY feelin' your chops...that shit had me head-noddin'...sounds a little low-end-heavy though...any way to run a high-pass over it and mix it back down at like 75%?? Just a little somethin to bring your highs up in the mix slightly...

Bill Collector - Goddamn it this beat is FIRE!! Only thing that I could imagine makin it better would be a harder hitting snare...that little faded snare is cool, but this could have so much SNAP if that snare popped a bit...but your pauses and everything are on-point...

jlft - Nice funky shit...not really on a hip-hop tip, but it'd be a dope one for cruisin with the windows down on a summer evening downtown...that hot shit...

Yeah...true dat...
I felt the second beat had a sadder feel to it...
for some reason tracks with that much cymbal have a sad emotion to 'em when I hear 'em...
like when you hear DJ Shadow's older stuff playing in Dark Days...
Just sets a somber and reflective mood...
at least in my mind...

billy oh billy the co-oh-lector.

you killed it man,
that beat, the way it chops?
im gonna have to figure out how to make that sound,
cause ive been hearing it lately,
i kinda went for it on my my two beats before last.

anyways, i think that sound is just as revolutionary as crunk, rza, tribe.

any type of new sound really and that a new sound im hearing more and more,
its ella fresh.
for is.

Whammy! <_< (Anchorman)

Yeah, the snare is actually not on purpose..it's like it gets "eaten up" by the compression on the kicks and samples..I tried with other snares but couldn't really get it good..I'm gonna try and make a better version with a better snare and maybe some added bassline type stuff..

Mad thanks to the other prop-givers like ren, .SMALLNUMBERS. and Josh G!!!
