Ok, so ren came up with some new voting rules that I told him we would try so here it goes.

"voting , we are going to switch it up a bit, just to make it more interesting.
Instead of each voter getting one vote to his or her favourite (uhh, mainly his im guessing)

we will each get 3 votes.

1. vote for your favorite - 3pts
2. vote for your second - 2pts
3. vote for your third - 1pt.

so dont forget to state clearly when voting who your top 3 are and in what order.
thats about it, if you have any questions, or you think of anything, please let me know."

So there you have it. Any questions can be addressed to ren about the voting rules.

"The Recap"

SubBass49
ren

Ernie Mac
HoneyBee
Josh G
godzilla
Bill
The Wig Master
jazzur
evoltek
outlier long time no see.

Please make sure I didn't forget you and please make sure your links work. And as always, thank you for your participation.

Yo, I've let the late people slide for the past few beat battles but we really gotta get back to sticking to the rules. Not to play "beat battle police" or anything....just to keep the organization.

Honeybee - 3 pts
Outlier - 2 pts
Jazzur - 1 pt

Many were enjoyable, but these 3 stood out by far.

Honey's had me freestyling... something beats rarely get me doing these days. So when this happens.... It must be an incredible beat. plus nobody really flipped the vocals besides her... there was sooooooooooo much people could've done with what he was talking about in the sampled source...
Outlier's had a moodiness that beckoned his return
Jazzur's stood out cuz now one elses drums brought that funky freshness

Great job done you 3!!!

I can see whats gonna happen here....... lol

So i better vote for what was genuinely the best in my opinion just to bring things neutral.

3pts: ERN - made the sample pretty musical, was well done.
2pts: JAZZUR - wack man was fresh for a change, well done.
1pts: WIGMASTER - nicely funked with.

I was gonna put josh or honeybee joint third it was very tough choice between wig josh and jazzur and honeybee but i thought that would mess the voting up, sorry folks.

this week's entrys were good for a wack sample, stuffjan stevens can take his bone cancer and stale some other people out, i never want to hear his music again.

nice to see a girl playing, btw honeybee, the catsuit pic nearly made me vote for you but nah...i cant let things like that influence the vote hehe nice try. no one has posted up late as far as i know, you can post all day friday, saturday is late, so dont skitz out just yet. seems alot posted very early this week.

outlier's was very nice but i thought was abit short on the original sample, josh flipped it well as usual, respect to everyone else that played, keep it up. hope to see you all on this next week.

Bill - 3 points
Ern - 2 points
Jazzur - 1 point

All three of these could've been my number one choice if you were only getting one vote. Some of the best beat battle beats I've heard so far :)

this week's entrys were good for a wack sample, stuffjan stevens can take his bone cancer and stale some other people out, i never want to hear his music again.

The lyrics and his voice were really creeping me out, and I'm going to delete this song right away. The only part that I kinda liked was the horns (or whatever it was).
No beat from me, and there won't be one next week either since I'm in Denmark, but you seem to be doing just fine
(If anyone'd care to hear my late entry for this week, it's on Myspace. Maybe I should call it non-entry?) :P

here we go...

3pts: BILL - love the intro, and just good chops throughout.
2pts: HONEYBEE - this one just missed being #1, a very good job here.
1pts: ERN - his was the most enjoyable to listen to in my opinion, nice drums too, very good job.

honorable mention - everyone! one of the best beat battles yet.

kinda tough to choose a #1 though, all 3 of these would've gotten my vote.

Boy its really tuff to choose cause they were all really good.
anyhow, this is how I broke it down tho i could easily have gone differntly cause everyones was great.
SO I based it on what I would most likly play at home.

1.HoneyBee,
very dramatic, very emotional, very happy,
wicked use of the sample, its poppy, punchy, catchy and nice,
good use of the vocals. Nice loops and layers for sure.

2.Evoltek
I think you had the best overall sound I was just hoping that you would have taken it that next level with a chouse.
sick tho. real sick.

3. Jazzur
nice poppy, sounds fresh and light like an out door dinner party with a bunch of friends in the summertime.
and the part 2??? what???
super nice job.

honourale mention,
and could have easily gotten first place voted,
Outlier,
(but I couldnt hear the origie (maybe it was just filtered so much, still tho nice beat.)
Nice development tho. real nice, I can hear teh tension buils, as the mood changes from super nice to kinda tense
short and sweet, super cool arrangemnet.

GodZilla,
your chourse was awsome,
thats one heck of a chopping and layering jopb with some reverb Im guessing.
super nice.

Wig Master,
love the groove.
with the vocal samples
but cool , sounds like something I might make.

good looking kids this weeeks production was awsome.

from wikipedia:

"Pause Thompson was the first alleged participant in a beat battle, occurring at his South Bronx project house in late 1979. Apparently Pause's older sister had confiscated his dual cassette deck after she had lent it to him--the advent of disco had distanced her from the music scene. However, the new phenomenon called 'Hip-Hop' would require some heavy radio dubbing. Much to Pause's dismay, his beat tapes would have to take a back seat to his sister's senior-itis. In a final plea, Pause challenged her to a pause tape duel and won the deck back easily, thanks to late-night basement training sessions, saving hip-hop forever & eventually inspiring legions of aspiring battlers the world over."

This was tough.

HoneyBee 3pts. even though she tried to check me about late entries when there weren't any at the time. slow down.
Wig Massa 2pts.
godzilla 1pt.

I have to agree with Wig....I'm not really feeling the new voting system. Seems like it just adds extra work/names to look at instead of preventing a tie. It was worth a try though.

Ren, PM me after you tally up the votes and I can post the new thread.

Everyone had nice entries.

Honorable mentions go to:

SubBass49 - The beat was nice man but it would've sounded better without the vocals.....although young sun has potential.
Bill - You get an honorable mention because of the other beats on your page....HOT HOT HOT, just had to tell you that.
Josh G - Dope from when I first heard it.
1left - Cool beat man....I would've added some variations just to keep it interesting though. Nice nonetheless.

Honeybee had the best chops but I got annoyed by the end of the beat. also didn't appreciate being called a bit(t)er. Oh well big ups to the only singular women I know.

I enjoyed Outliers, it came close.

Really the sounds in this sample were conducive to making great feelgood beats even if I can't stand the song as a whole. Everyone who entered this week really came with it. Give yourself a pat on the back.

I kind of like this method of voting because it seems people are willing to give more constructive feedback because the method does take more time.
