Bill and Tone tied with 4 votes each.

"i think me and tone are on 4 votes each if i counted right, just to let you folks know, if the sample choice ends up coming my way then im passing it on, i gotta work all day today so i wont be here to upload anything" - Bill...

So Tone you can pick another original or pass your vote to someone else.

RULES

1. Use the sample provided, drums and synth (only if allowed by the sample poster)
OR (For remix purposes) Use the acapella provided and you can use any beat you want.

2. No songs in pass the deadline.
.........

3. DO NOT submit your entry until the day of the deadline.
Friday the 25th @ 12am - 11:59pm.
Voting starts Saturday the 26th @ 12am
until Sunday the 27th @ 10am.

[b]4. Winner picks the original song for the next round.

Or He/She can pass the pick to someone else.

Indeed...maybe everyone that has a Myspace or other networking page should advertise the battles...

I can do a banner (I knew that graphic design degree would come in handy one day). Lemme know if you guys are interested, and I'll crank one out along with the html code to post it on Myspace.

15 hours of manual labour on a sunday, damn that was no fun.....cheers ern for posting my explanation
seems tone hasnt come through with a sample though, oh well....hopefully he will by tommorow cause ive got a day off.

i def agree with andt about the voting thing, seems abit odd because the vote thread gets a couple hundred views each time but mostly its just the participants voting, ive noticed my entry getting over 50 plays each time on myspace so obviously people are listening/reading the thread......ANONYMOUS USERS YOU MUST PLAY/VOTE!!!! ^_^

E-mail me at SubBass49@yahoo.com if you want me to send you a text document with the code to post it on Myspace (clickable image link that takes the person to the Crates board). I'll try to post the code here, but it might screw up because of HTML stuff...

Hey ya'll...just tested my banner code again, and you might have to delete the spaces from it...like where it spaces out the lines a bit. Between "img" & "src" and also between "0" and "alt"

At least that's what I just had to do to post it as a bulletin...

The message board added all kinds of spaces. So bottom line I guess, hit me up if you want the text file of the code...it'll save you time tryin to figure out what spaces to remove. Subbass49@yahoo.com

Peace.

I'm going to propose a new rule....if you are going to enter a beat....at least make it NOTICEABLE that you used the sample. I'm not directing this to anyone in particular but damn.....

That's why I'm totally against using synths in the beat battles because I can make any old beat not even using the sample and just say I added synth and filters to it. Some people do a good job mixing the synth/filters with the samples but some OVER DO IT.

Like I said, I'm not directing this toward anyone in particular so don't take it to heart.

i thought about it as well bubt it'll end in enless discussions if the sample is recognizable or not. only way could be that everyoone who votes takes it as a criteria for his/her vote.

naaaaaaah , i dont think anyone would pass off a tune pretending to use the intended sample....if it were a remix battle then maybe...infact no..even then i wouldnt care if it was recognisable.....if dabrye enterred this comp...im pretty sure he'd electro it out and bitcrush the sample beyond recognition. i rely on filters to make my basslines from the original sample...All my entries have been obvious in terms of tracing the steps i took to make my beat......but Bills are usually Filtered and to be fair thats his style and as his style seems to be pretty popular on this board, to tell everyone that filters arent allowed....would just be gay.

but synths..... hmm you got a point there..or have you.. is a decayed synth stab a drum sound ...whos to say? if a 909 kick drums middle section is looped to 2 seconds is that drum sound now a synth? or if a rim shot is stretched to 20 times its original length is that now a synth sound.....is a drum machine a synth? Bob Moog thinks it is!!!!

i know where your coming from ern..but where can you draw the line.....i think its up to the voting to decide whether a beat is a good use of the sample or not.

thats my 2 pence worth anyway.

nice!! i love this song --- its from Neil Young's best LP (in my opinion) "on the beach" --- every song is a winner!!

if anyone's got it on vinyl - take a look inside, if there's a hawaiin print on the inside its worth a few quid i reckon. for everyone who hasn't got it -- GET IT.
