i vote for bill, i didn't like the last part though. what did you use for these effects? is it all mpc? nice drums. tone's was good too, but i prefered bill's not so obvious chops.

ya'll are crazy. the second part of bill's was waaaaaay sicker than tone's or anyone else's for that matter. honestly, i don't see how anyone liked tone's that much (no disrespect). it wasn't bad... just not that special to me. i thought mine was better than tone's... but i didn't get any votes anyway so don't listen to me

A lot of good beats, enjoyed em all especially Jazzur's and Bill's. I vote for Bill, your beat was a little hectic in the begining, but loved the part after! Jazzur loved yours too, nice laid back but still hard.

i vote for BILL --- great track. the second part does sound ace... with honourable mention going to WIG MASTER's drums - they were pretty heavy.

wasn't trying to change anyone's opinion or vote--it's just funny when you're so sure of something, then the majority disagrees.
good looking on the honorable mention for the drums (garageband, believe it or not. world music jam pack, european folk kit with a little overdrive)...
i'm actually pleased at how it came out. when i sat down and started chopping it up last week, i really thought i wouldn't be able to do much with it. it's dope what a little filtering or eq can do to a track with no real breaks or change-ups. still no one fucking with bill's though. he seems to have this comp on lock

Thanks alot for the feedback folks! i enjoyed listening back to everyones entry's. I think we all raised our game a little on that round, was a tough choice when i voted, all the entry's had good parts in them.

what did you use for these effects? is it all mpc?

how did you do that? it sounds like a wa wa but i bet you just ran some horn or something

I used Emagic's Logic Audio sequencer on the Mac, personally i think its the best sequencer about, i used afew vst's plug ins on the track playing the cut up samples, some of the T.C -Eq plugs as well as the crappy north pole filter with plenty resonance and some T.C reverb, i think i used the logic pitch shifter vst as well. i recorded a sweep on the filter for about a 16 bar length by recording the slider movement.
the mpc provided the beat for both parts i think, so basically i go into logic and cut up the sample, then record the result into the mpc and build a beat over the top, then record the mpc back into logic and apply more plugins over the whole track. i then put them into bias peak and normalize. i dont have the mpc midi'ed to the computer or connected digitally/usb, i just transfer the sound forth and back through a phono cable, its not a great way of doing things to be honest, but i still need a digital card for the mpc.

not sure if big ern is going to post up for 14. i did send him a message yesterday asking him if he wanted me to post up this thread, he never replied but did write at the top of this thread:

"So I was going to start it back up at #14 but since no one posted the vote thread for #13....I guess I'll do it."

:P

i was gonna pass on the sample choice to tone or anyone else who has something they think is good to put up.

as for the anonymous voting, sounds like a good idea....although im not sure we need it, it sorta hints that the voting is unfair, so just for the record, the only person i know here is jazzur and he voted for tone.

would be better if we all sent in mp3 download links instead of streams ?... That way all tracks could be put in a zip for voting on.

I think some people aren't gonna wanna post downloadable instrumentals...end up hearing your beat uncredited on some shitty kid's demo tape 5 years down the road. Remixes aren't as big of a problem, but I'm hesitant to post downloadable beats...
