just read an article on allhiphop. who do you think will win? I can't see anyone beating Freddie in battle rhymes. This should be interesting!

I've been tired of both these dudes. Rakim is a legend, blew my mind at some point in the late eihties. LSD and Paid in Full was the mashup. Freddie's aite. I haven't been too blown away since "A PART OF MY LIFE".

I' still wanna watch. Posted Image

Rakim had a crew back in the 80's called Ra's Love Brothers while Foxx was runnning with Foxxx's Supreme Force Squad, and they have been beefing since back then.

Rakim looks forward to it.

Check it www.hiphopsite.com (news on the d.l.)

My take:

This should be interesting. I love Rakim and I feel like Foxxx forces it a little bit in his flow.

I hope Rakim fuckin' smashes him.

That is HELLA fuckin weak! He's hella late. Thats like someone who fought fight Ali or Tyson when they were in the Golden Gloves trying to get a match with them in the twilight or tier careers. SUPER WEAK! Freddie Foxx aint even that tight to me anyway.

Why is it weak? It will probably revive Rakims career a bit, too. C'mon? It's classic wrestling. Rakim=Hulk Hogan Freddie = Jake The Snake

Great entertainment.

We'll see how Rakim sounds. Then we can judge.

I'm not defending either but the beat is a classic Eric-B and Rakim beat. ;)

Wow, so much shit talking about Rakim, because he's old?!

Being old means shit, nothing, nada.....please study up on Art Blakey and half of the other Jazz musicians who made amazing music up until the day they died...shit Art cut an album called "in my prime" when he was 80....he could cut anyone's head on the drum kit on his worst day. Shit you could prop his corpse up behind a drum kit now and it would smash heads.

I'd take Max Roach or Elvin Jones over Art Blakey any day... and thats because they lead more innovative groups, they are both old too. Art Blakey played hard bop his whole life.

Yeah, but my point was that a couple of people were saying that Ra and Freddie are too old to care about.

My opinion for loving Art is just his style, I mean, when he came back from Africa, you could hear all types of crazy shit that he was throwing into his play...and his pressed role is enough to make you shit yourself.

Elvin, Max and Art are all awesome, I'm not really into discussing who is better than who. I just like good music, simple as that...if I wanted to discuss first and second and third place, then I'd watch football or somthing. Good music is good music.

Now this is some good conversation here.......I just wish more people would include Ed Blackwell & Dannie Richmond when having these type of volleys. By the way, Elvin's my personal favorite. Peace to my fellow drummers------

Yeah, Elvin is the shite, no doubt. I was bummed when he passed away. No matter how old they are, I always imagine jazz heads as immortal....saints.

I have a great Elvin record, can't remember the name....its all live and there is some funny talk in the beginning...sounds like the club owner is commenting on Elvin being late or somthing...pretty cool.

I remember when I first heard how Art started doing that pitch tweaking thing with pushing his elbow into the drum head while hitting it with a stick...like an improv talking drum...I love that shit.

Guess we need to get this topic started in its appropriate place...
