argggggghhhhh so I thought i was being super smart preparing drum kits to save time but then no drums ha

ok Question: can I synthesis elements like white noise, attack clicks and sub bass to back up the record "drum" sounds?

HA! gotcha mr super smarty, no cheating for you today! :P

anyway, that's very good question, thanks for pointing that out. the thing is: i fully believe in all of you and your talent and wit and i think you can figure out something to make it sound dope (because that's the challenge!).
and because of that i say: NO BACKUP DRUMS WHATSOEVER! there are countless ways of layering, compression, glitching up and generally fuxing with it, you can do that. besides, the world is so full of rich sounds, you just have to find and catch them. ay, you can even catch pokemon while you're out! lol

i hope that doesn't ruin it for you HD.

...hmm,  now what if my recorded drums happen to coincide with some of the drums in the sample?  ;)

..just saying it so you can say:  that's not allowed either! :P

..oh, and congrats!..   nice samples!

challenging rules, samples are sweet!

so, we're not allowed to use drum elements from the provided samples, right? just want to be 100% sure about that..

Oooh I like these rules, Big plastic bins on their side and then wack them really hard, the more rubbish you put in will change the knock. All good unless you get arrested for vandalism. Or don't get caught like I did. Just made my sunday a lot more interesting.

so you say no added drum backup.  quick question.  i am about to head to our hangar ( i work on helicopters for a living) i am gonna record a bunch of sounds if i record like 3 things that sound like kicks i can use all 3 of those right? i can layer all my sounds as long as i make them with my field recorder right? i read it says no "drum backup" you just mean no real drums allowed correct? i love the rules homie cant wait to start creating!!

haha, that's the spirit! go for it!

@FatVonFree: exactly, you can use as many drum samples as you want and layer them all over the place, as long as they're self-recorded. let's see what you come up with!

@all others: yes, NO drums from the sample either. i understand that they're tempting but let's keep it interesting shall we? :)

Great ruleset Beatfux, congrats on the win too!

I got my kicks from my turning my bathroom sink on, left some of the water running sound in too

Percussion was stuff around the house, door handles, locks, a matchbox etc...

Yay thanks for making this so much fun (=

And congrats on the win beatfux, finally a dude from Bavaria

Could totally involve my girlfriend on this one and built the beat around her squeaky house shoes.

My drum set (check facebook.com/massmatazz for some pictures):

Kick drum : door from washing machine

Snare : Abakus calculator
Hihat : Jewelery / House shoes
Shaker : coriander in a glass
And some clacking noise from russian spoons

Also thought the beat could use a little J5 - so also check my blend if you like (non-entry, just for fun)

This recording stuff with a mic is actually more fun than I expected it to be!

The recordings used to create the drums can be found here>>  https://www.wetransf...31183145/31eadf

And then there is the beat

p.s. sorry for adding an old STBB entry to the STBB group on soundcloud....not sure how to remove it from there...can someone please assist :D

Great samples, a great rules too.  Spent an hour walking round my house with  Zoom H6, tapping and banging items.  I found lots of bell type noises, (cups, bottles, spoons), and some fine drums in surprising places! The lampshades in the two rooms made great sounds when flicked with finger tips, one almost like a drum skin, and one papery snap!  These are the basis for my beat!

I have shared the best parts of the kit I used, (96khz wav samples),  here:

http://www112.zippys...Z8N6o/file.html

feel free to use these in your own productions.

A friend referred me to this website, to this competition in particular. Looks very fun indeed.

So basically use found sounds / recordings for the percussion elements.

I am an active user at Freesound (same user name), can I use some of the sounds I have already recorded and posted there, or do they need to be purpose recorded for this competition?
