I can't lie, part of me feels like laughing and SMDH at fans the other part has compassion for "struggling artists"

But I wouldn't have even funded this dude for some grass roots ish

Baatin (rest his soul) or T3 for sure, I'd support

Is there any place saying he's facing jail time? There are plenty of Kickstarter scams like this and I don't think many people have success when trying to sue/get their money back/etc. The only ones I've seen Kickstarter step in and help with are higher profile projects with a lot more money on the line.

Miss Stress, you should face jail time for your click-bait subject title  :D

The story is that some joker who backed the record says he's starting a class action lawsuit against Elzi for failing to deliver his album. And then some joker websites published a story about it.

No big deal.

Safe to say that Elzhi's career's been largely mismanaged at this point?  Two solo albums (The Preface and Elmatic) in a seven year span.  An artist of his talent shouldn't be in a position of such little control –– it doesn't make sense . . . it shouldn't make sense.

New project has an imminent release date.  Elmatic was released in 2011… it's been that long since he's released a project.  Damn shame!

I recall everything this guy putting out to be fire. I was trying to arrange him on a track with this eminem sounding (cousin of a cousin) as Elzhi (circa '09) reached out to said artist. As had a few artists from his area that for legal reasons remain indisclosed.

Joke's on all of us. His album is coming quick. But I feel sorry for dude. Depression is a motherfucker, and if I rapped for a living, the last thing I would want to do is put an album out about it! But if it helps him heal, then I say more power to him.

^^ Was going to ask for a reference on the depression comment you made but I found a recent interview.  I actually thought about this yesterday before adding to the Kendrick topic b/c Untitled Unmastered reminded me of a project Elzhi did called The Leftovers in essence.  He mentions having recorded a grip of material that didn't make the album and that he's not necessarily eager to release.  W/O having heard the new project yet -- obviously -- I would love for him to release some of that.  I've found that creating and letting go of things is not easy... I'm sure a lot of those tracks are FIRE, but with him being a self-proclaimed perfectionist and battling depression and what not, it's damn near an impossibility for him to come to terms with that.  Just release that stuff and put it out as a collection of outtakes or b-sides… we'll rock w/ it, I'm sure.  It's all in how the material is marketed.  Elzhi's got a pretty damn good catalog… not sure there's a single bad project in there… definitely an uninspiring song or two w/ some questionable production though TBH.

Also, I found it kind of disappointing that Nas never connected w/ Elzhi.  I wonder if he felt slighted by Elzhi's rendition.  Some people really thought/ think that Elmatic > Ilmatic.  Maybe that's Nas's way of keeping the competition in check, who knows…

^^ Elmatic was incredibly IMO… not saying it was > than Ilmatic though.

Anywho, what's everyone's assessment of Lead Poison?
