are you guys familiar with wim hof?
he just filmed a documentary for vice about his extreme cold weather resistance training. dudes ran 26 miles in 5 hours at sub-arctic temperatures (-4 degrees) in a pair of shorts, barefoot. climbed mt everest in only a pair of shorts, no oxygen tank, and climbers kleets. hof also has 20 world records, most involving extreme cold endurance.
his meditative practices seem to reach further than just his extreme temperature training, as he can also trigger his immune system to block harmful pathogens. sounds crazy, i know, but scientists are proving this ability.
taken from his wiki : he is able to directly influence his own Autonomic Nervous System and Immune System just by using his meditation techniques. In research done by Radboud University (The Netherlands) Wim Hof trained a group of 12 volunteers to prove the immune system can be modulated. Hof also ran a full marathon in the Namib Desert without water. The run was performed under the supervision of Dr. Thijs Eijsvogels.

so yeah. this guy wim hof is literally changing the way humans deal with extreme temperatures and how our bodies defend themselves. the most amazing part about this guy is that he wants to share this information with the world, for free! so like, hes not trying to sell you some snake oil and trick you into some 4 day retreat that costs $2000 just to walk on some some hot coals and repeat namaste. wim hof wants everyone to be able to control their minds and bodies to create a stronger, healthier, & happier YOU.
dr rhonda patrick, phd. recently had wim hof on her podcast and goes into more depth of the bodies natural defense against extreme cold/heat and gives a more scientific explanation about the mechanisms. (real smart chick and a great podcast)
