A local DJ is selling his studio gear to pay their rent. They got the MPC-1000 and Maschine. I want to get into making beats for fun but I don't know which one is better. This girl I like is telling me to get the Maschine, but don't most pros use the MPC?

I've seen 9th Wonder knock out beat after beat in Maschine

But 9th Wonder is not a real pro. He's more of a glorified hobbyist with one or two aight beats, but he's nothing special. What about real pros? Like Nottz or Pete Rock?

has dilla held your debut with a thug face? he's not a hobbyist mang

now pete uses a 2000xl or 3000, but everyone wants him to go back to the sp-1200

The main benefit of mpc is swing, and the Linn drum warmthyou get out of the 3000, which was an updated MPC60. MPC1000, would be a pretty niche-y buy imo. If you're gonna get an MPC, get the 2000xl or 3000 if you care about being "pro".

Besides everyone knows MPC pads go to shit in like a year

I love Dilla, but I don't agree. 9th is meh to me. I don't know what swing or warmth is, will that help me make beats like Black Milk or Tall Black Guy or Treblefree?

Troll?

Either way, maschine has a swing function built in to and the sound engine is pretty warm. If you're new get maschine... It's more screen (visual) friendly. Learning how to navigate an MPC if you've never used a sampler before is going to take some time. To answer your question, no piece of equipment will make you any better or worse. Madlib made the unseen on a tascam four track, El-p made fantastic damage on an ASR-10. Buy either one, you'll probably give up in less than 6 months anyway.

Peace.

No! I ain't no god damn troll or no motherfucking Pete! Why can't I have an opinion? I thank you guys for y'all help because I'm trying learn about this beat making shit and wanna make the right moves. That $200 for Maschine could go towards a pair of Jordan's or a hot tee shirt.

Women know beat machines. They pound the pads with their titties.

I got the Machine and he gave me something called an MBOx and two USB cables free. He said I'll need it to put my samples in the Maschine. He asked me if I needed turntables and a mixer so I can sample. I told him I'll think about it.

He's selling a pair of Technic 1200 turntables and a GLI PMX900 mixer all for $800.00 is that a good price? He also offered to teach me some basic DJing at my house, but the girl I like is a DJ.

Hey Mr. Rodriguez, I'm not Pete, but if you want to let him live rent free in your mind, and think I'm him then I can't stop you from making a fuck boy out yourself obsessing over another man. If you're not here to help me learn how to make beats then kick rocks and fuck off.

Why are you so obsessed with Pete Marriott? Every time you mention him or accuse someone of being him he wins. You guys lost and he out trolled you, just shut the fuck up, let it go and keep it moving.

from my inbox. pretty conclusive proof imo

Nobody can help you learn how to make beats....

You can do that yourself... Get so,e drums in a pad or do so,e finger drumming to your favorite songs,, practice that....go make some loops...it takes time... Knowledge before your wisdom or understanding is fucked

Here's the progression of beat making.

1.Buy sampler
2.wheres the 'make black milk beats' button?
3.spend a week making one track
4.think it's the best beat ever made
5.realise it's garbage
6.repeat steps 3-6 for a few months
7.think "its because my mix is bad"
8.overcompess, over eq and over limit everything you make
9.make your trashy beats even louder
10.repeat steps 7-9 for a few months more
11.realise it's actually because your beats were trash to begin with
12.aha moment: learn to actually study beat makers you like, learn about rhythm, drum patterns, chop selections, micro chops, simplicity, actually learn how to mix and use the tools properly.
13.make slightly better trash.
14. Repeat steps 3-13 for a few years until your shit's fire.

Hope that helps.
