Beats mixed with radio grabs cut to cassette tape and re-fed through a 404sx. Uncut Tracks has some old mofuggin beats. Most of the samples on L.A. TAPE were dug up by a friend out in Australia. Some art I did is going to be used for Tight Songs with Fresh Selects also, so that's cool if you listen to that show

cleaned up .wavs at

son, you know what's funny is i'm beginning to like these uncut joints.. it feels like radio play or some shit.. idk how to explain it.. but I def think i'm just going open a file and make beat after beat in there.

Just sold two beat tapes to a guy in Japan. Here's some beats to celebrate, was gonna hold onto them for the next tape

I don't think i'm gonna make a "gp bear beat thread" either, Uncut Tracks sounds random enough lol

last 2 were just straight up "should've been deleted" haha

Bandcamp's got all my art and .wavs, I rip 'em to cassette and ship 'em out, I don't like people calling shit "tapes" when they never put it to tape lol

put beats on CDs, burn those to tape, and I have it set up with an SP-404SX and two cassette players so where I can play one of the tapes and record it to another with the 404 in between for efx if I want. Also have it set up running a keyboard/guitar through it. Figured out how to make the guitar sound like a bass using the 404, so I can loop a "bass" line on a pad, then switch back to guitar and riff over the bass loop, all while recording onto a tape for instant demos.

Also have a USB-Cassette thing, so I can take those demos and put them back onto my computer for further mixing if I want

been working on this album for a while

Named after the waterpark outside Vallejo, CA, based on my memories of late 90s Bay Area. Focus on 70s experimental soul-jazz records.

Just listened last night. Cool tape – the short song lengths make it very accessible and bite-sized. I liked how it moves along. However, I did find myself wanting to hear more progression and development out of the tracks. But I get that that's your style, sort of the radio channel-switching aesthetic. Some definite bangers on there, though. This one was probably my favorite: https://gpbear.bandc...album/six-flags. I like that drum pattern with the 16th-note bass drum coming in every few measures.

GP, I just took a listen again the L.A. Tape. I really like it man. I dig the old school style and your production keeps me guessing. It feels very raw and emotive. It's like being invited into your hip hop trance. Thanks for the music bro.

Grimey son, some heaters!

My only advice is, whilst I'm a big fan of Lo-fi mixing some of your beats are too 2-4000khz rich, pings the ear drums unpleasantly in some areas. Otherwise good work man! Keep em coming.

I think you're just getting old, Ed lol

is 4000 kilohertz a thing haha. I know what you mean, switched over to a laptop + the new version of FL doesn't feel the same as the old one, but I like to keep those beats around so I remember what they sound like. Some of the basslines don't make it to speakers, etc etc, basement shit

coming out into the sunlight 10 years after a coma with a cassette tape

Getting old? Nah cuz quite the opposite, super sonic hearing. I know ma frequencies brah and some of your snares hurt the head, that's all. It doesn't detract from the beats construction, they're dope. Just a simple mixing thing that is easily fixed when noted.

Check out the 'pain frequencies' all you need to do is cut some 2-4k... Pretty straight foward.

Peace.
