tumblr_nfe8mrcsGz1t4o62mo1_400.gif

So this week I am gonna switch it up a little bit :D

I’ll pick three genres, you can only CHOOSE ONE!
With that said, each genre comes with their own rules.

Now let’s get to the genres

We got:

- Use only one of the provided samples (Yes, you can combine it with the rhodes/zoom folder)
- A maximum of 1 VST or SYNTH is allowed, so try to understand your OSC’s

(Yes, you have to get  your  bass out of the same VST or SYNTH).
- Outside drums allowed.
- Use at least one vocal stab (No acapella).
- No time limit.

Reggae:
- Outdside drums allowed.
- Outside synth/bass allowed.
- Use at least 1 of the provided samples. (Yes, you can combine it with the rhodes/zoom folder)

- No outside drums.
- Make your own bass/synth(s) out of the recordings (micro sampling, see tutorial).

- No outside samples.
- No acapella, yes vocal stabs.
- No time limit.

Tutorial on how to my make synths out of field recordings: http://youtu.be/3pn_iTsolMM?t=1m20s

NOTE: This is in Ableton, but works pretty much the same in any DAW, just loop a tiny section.

congrats Muma! love where you took it with these crazy rules.

what qualifies for fusion jazz? this is quite broad genre.

also, could you point out the source of these dope rhodes samples?

Thanks bruh!

Yeah I took Fusion Jazz because it's like the electric jazz, could be with a lot of syntwork, but do what you think devines Jazz. Jazz is a feeling, not a style. Take for instance tracks from Spyro Gyra maybe that will help to lighten my vision.

But I'm not gonna bitch about how'd u devine Fusion Jazz, but don't expect me to accept a boombap/hip hop beat haha ;)

My sources are sacred, the message is what I spread around ^_^

In this case those rhodes were the message...

idm and edm are totally different genres (well, edm is not really a genre its an umbrella term). and a lot of "idm" is between 70 and 90 bpm like hip hop, so over 105 you're getting into different territory.

Great rules, I've gone with the reggae feel - hopefully it works as that genre!

im guessing reggae means lots of syncopation, heavy bassline, and reverb/delay on the snare lol.
