Alright, shame on me for e-digging, but honestly, who doesn't every once in a while?  -_-

Anyways, I recently stumbled upon this blog post which is basically a dump of about 1500 soul & funk 45s rips from a record store.

The tracks are all cut before the end but it's good enough for sampling, there's some grimy old wax in there so the fact that those are mp3s doesn't matter too much to me, you ain't gonna make a cripsy clean beat out of those anyway.

Some sweet drum breaks in the following ones:

49, 86, 96, 118, 123, 134, 145, 156, 170, 179, 216, 229, 232,292, 296, 297, 299, 310, 326, 351...

If you checked the link out you can see that downloading these manually could be very time consuming...

I88oMYG.gif

I work as a web developer so I came up with a quick script to download them all or by bunch at once, here are the instructions:

  • Go to the blog, right click on one of the samples link --> save link as...
If your browser asks you where to save the file, go to the settings and set a default location so it doesn't ask you next time. Otherwise you're good.

  • Now just copy and paste the following into the address bar while on the blog post (most browsers will remove the "javascript:" at the beginning when pasting, just re-add it manually) then hit enter:

Replace the start=0 & end=200 values with what you want (i.e: here it will download the first 200 samples)

    javascript:var start=0;var end=200;var links = document.querySelectorAll('a');if (start < 9) start = 9;for (var i = start; i < end; i++) {links[i].setAttribute('download', '');links[i].click();}

Enjoy ;)

What browser did you use to run this script?  It's not working for me for some reason.

I'm using Chrome, it probably won't work on IE and maybe Safari (too lazy to check right now).

Otherwise just make sure that what you pasted starts with javascript: after you pasted it.

If you guys make some beats with some of those please post them here, I'd love to see what you come-up with!

Also if you identify some of them, please let me know, there's quite a few I'd buy on wax if I knew what they were.

Here's a quick one I did a while back (I don't remember the number of the sample):

For the life of me I can't get this script to work.  I consider myself pretty proficient in these kinds of things lol.  Am I to navigate to the site and replace the URL with the script?  When I do so it takes me to a search page.  Perhaps someone who has already downloaded these can upload them to STMB Google Drive.  School a brova!

Yes, this is the process. If it takes you to a search it's most definitely that you're not re-adding javascript: at the beginning of the the script after pasting it in the url bar.

If you do and it still doesn't work, you can work around it by going to the blog, right click anywhere --> Inspect element --> Console and paste the script without javascript: at the beginning in the console , it'll do the same thing.

take the jdownl prog. open the bloq site right mouse click and let you show the website sourccode.

And then while jdownloader is open copy the source code and the prog will automatically load the mp3 files and then begin to download.

try it, works for me

Brah, don't be knocking no e-diggers. I work 6 day 80 hour weeks. I ain't got no time to be spending my only day off in a record store digging... Otherwise I'd never make any beats. I basically only ever e-dig, unless I'm out somewhere near a record shop and I can grab a few quickies from a bin.

Much appreciated man! Good looking out.
