Yummerz.
Looking forward to it.
From what I understand, Captain Murphy all up on this.
Hopefully a little less Thundercat. In my opinion while Thundecat is dope, he kinda takes over tracks and takes them away from raw. Anyhow, still dope for sure, but whatever he does, whoever is on it, I am interested!!

Thought Captain Murphy stuff would be getting its own album (thought he said before next Flylo) wonder if/when that will happen

i'm making the prediction that the new Captain Murphy joint drops before this one without any warning whatsoever...that shit was mixed and mastered around this time last year, not sure what the hold up's been.

Maybe he wanted to drop Captain Murphy before new Flylo to build hype. It seemed to me that Captain Murphy got a bit more hype than UTQC so maybe its some sort of strategy lol

Audio visual sampler.

First impression, it's very jazzy. Sounds more like a real band Vs him on a laptop. Appearance by snoop!

Judging from the snippets, it sounds like some 70s prog/jazz/fusion.  Some amazing sounding tracks, and some lame sounding ones too.  Should be a fun listen when it comes out in full though.

Yah. He has drifted steadily into this sound I think. I hope his next album is more like LA. Just saying. All his albums are great, UTQC is regular rotation, but LA is just so,funky.

Definitely getting the deluxe/limited/whatever they want to call it edition with the instrumentals. Not a big fan of Snoop, not very excited about him being on the album. Big fan of Kendrick, but also not very excited about him being on the album. I can see why Flylo would be excited to work with these guys though. Herbie/Thundercat will be great. UTQC is my favorite Flying Lotus project, have a feeling that's not gonna change based on the previews for this new one. Hopefully we get a new Captain Murphy album soon too.

Edit: Digging the art, the animation on video/artwork he's been sharing last few days are sweet.

When I first heard Nightcrawler on UTQC, I tweeted FL to get Snoop on that joint. It's so west coast gangsta. He would have been perfect. Clearly he was listening to Mangoes.

I usually dig the female vocals over Flylo stuff more than dudes (comparing Niki Randa/lady on that last track on 1983 vs Thundercat/Damon Albarn/etc), they've always fit the sound better imo. Based on the little sample Snoop doesn't sound too out of place though, I may actually be more concerned about Kendrick's feature especially if he's still in that angry Kendrick voice he's been using on everything after GKMC.

Was gonna preorder the superduper version on wax (with the instrumental) from Bleep but they wanted like $30 almost for shipping, hopefully that's not some exclusive or anything like that.

Looks like it only says $30 on shipping estimate, ended up being $8 shipped USPS Media Mail. Preordered, can't wait for October. Always preordering Flylo records now, everything seems to get more expensive a few years later :( (Still need to buy 1983, probably gonna spend the $50-60 this payday for that)

Coolio.
If you hear Snoop and Daz tearing it on the Mono/Poly track on the Dr Green Thumb Show? It's really good, they just fit that futuristic G Funk sound. Children of Dre.

Digging that. I've never been super into gfunk which prob explains why I don't dig much of snoops music, he does sound like a nice person irl though so that's cool. My concern with snoop on a flylo record is him sounding out of place, after listening to the preview a few more times little less concerned though

I think FL is a master producer. He is not slapping Snoop on a track for sales. He had a track that fit the album. And Snoop fit with the track.

Just my theory.

Oh yeah, I definitely wasn't meaning it was to bump up sales/etc. I was thinking more on the terms that Snoop would like to work with Flylo and of course Flylo prob would love to work with someone like him.

Just found out about this album like two nights ago. Riding the late train, but here's an interview I found from Rolling Stone that isn't as late...

Giles Peterson played the track Herbie Hancock. Its good.

Real good.
Simple, well, not really simple, but simply put, its a jazz track from the 60s or seventies, even cities I guess.

Really just jazzy. Gooood jazzy. Looking forward to this.

I'll be reccomned ding this to my uncle. He is 60 something, but loves jazz. If you likes jazz, me thinks you'll like this.

Instrumentation or Arrangments? Instrumentation seems quite the task.

Ngl, I'm a huge flylo fan but from the previews this record sounds like it's going to be a giant snoozefest/overtly and unnecessarily complex. And this is coming from somebody you would consider a Lotus fanboy––I just wish he would find a balance between his older stuff and the dreamy tracks on UTQC.

Still buying it regardless.

I have felt that way about each album from Los Angeles, but they still hook me.

On a semi related note,
Erykah Badu seems to be working with Thundercat and Mono/Poly.
