Whaddup whaddup...hope all is well with everybody.

Funny thing about this Droog dude is that I KNOW I saw a few youtube videos of him spitting in front of his computer camera about 4+ years ago...if not, maybe even like 6-7 years ago....and it was really good.  I think he spit with no beat, just him...also (if memory serves) he was sitting in a plain ass room with a plain white t shirt on.

The reason I remember this so well is because ever since I saw it (deep in a youtube k-hole way bitd) I've wanted to find it again to share with some homies...I've searched the FUCK out of the internet trying to find it and never had any luck...

At any rate...I always just chalked it up as 'one of those dope things you see on the internet but will never find again because you don't know how'....UNTIL I hear a Droog track a month or so ago...I was like "this is what that kid sounded like" then I found this picture from a complex article and I KNEW it was that same fuckin' dude whose videos I've been trying to re-find for the last 5+ years!

I really wish I could find the youtube videos I'm talking about...they really illustrate how long this dude has been killing it quietly.

EDIT: Oh shit...looks like I might have found the name he used to go by when he made those videos...some hiphop subreddit post claims he used to spit via a youtube channel as GOD (Grandma on Drums).

^ that reminds me of this one dude i heard spitting over "God's Bathroom Floor" on YouTube back in like 2010...he had a few other tracks on his channel using some other similar beats, but his interpretation of heroin addiction on that song was the best thing i've ever heard.

and i can't find it anymore, dude deleted his channel and hasn't resurfaced since...at least to my knowledge.  it's cool to see people like this bubble up though, most don't understand that it's been a long time coming for most emerging artists.

The "I don't sound like Nas" bar is sure to come, á la Action Bronson: "Don't ever say my fucking music sounds like Ghost's shit."  I really like what was done with the video in the intro and outro.  So far it seems like he's got a lot more to offer than just punchlines.  To the point that him maintaining "the charade" longer would have helped retain the interest of more, specifically "Nas fanboys", I think not only was he and his team aware of this, but they took it into account when releasing this video.  This was there way of explicitly distinguishing YOD from Nas...so maybe the aforementioned Nas bar won't be necessary...tbd

Anyone who thought this was Nas clearly has never spent any time in Queens...the scratchy-voice/queens-twang combo is pretty fuckin common and not unique to Nas....sure there are other MC's from Q that don't sound like that but to think it's unique to Nas is laughable to anyone who has actually hung out in Queens at all.
