yeah, that movie was a weirdly written comedy. i did not care at all for like 90% of the humor -- but overall, structurally i love how it played out. but yeah, i'm not that much of a fan of this new-age, awkward, Parks and Rec-inspired quirky Juno humor where everyone plays their parts straight and dry as they say goofy, fucking wannabe quotable dialogue. it always comes off as so unnatural and forced, and it's a dead giveaway that this guy who wrote/directed this does not come from a background in comedy.
actually, from what i understand his previous films are bleak and depressing, which made this film all the more strange. i liked it though, i just didn't laugh at any of the jokes i was supposed to laugh at...but i will admit though, Fassbender played his part so well that i had to chuckle sometimes just from his mannerisms and speech patterns because i have so much personal experience dealing with my little bro, who acts similarly.
