someone teach me how to master pls
I'm no master and I haven't been doing this very long so feel free to take my advice with a grain of salt...
There are plenty of youtube channels dedicated to mixing and mastering, although not genre specific but when it comes to mixing/mastering genre isn't really going to make a huuuge difference (for basics). I can PM you some video links if you would like. Also check out some Matthew Weiss videos, he's worked with people like gift of gab & talib and also has an online course which might be worth checking out. I find him very easy to follow and very concise in the way he talks about music mixing.
Other than that, the 2 most helpful tips I can pass on is 1. Use the high pass filter on pretty much every single sound (I often even use it on basslines) to get rid of mud and free up frequency space. and 2. Learn to use levels properly... it sounds like stupid and useless advice but you can usually get a pretty solid mix just by getting all your volumes right.
As far as mastering/loudness goes... Limiters/maximizers/compression & stereo wideners are a good start... <<sounds like a lot to take in but each of those only (usually) have a few knobs, so learn em!

Sorry I'm late. Reversed the first two notes in the sample and used the foley for random effects/perc. My entry stops at the 2 minute mark the rest is for those who are interested.

to add to the master question, make sure when you mix you mix at a low level and leave plenty of headroom for your master. im no pro either but you dont really want your final mix peaking above -6.
and just like big ED said, levels, and also dont forget to pan your trax
