yo guys. great battle last time and congrats to mnstrmkk!

i would love to be part of the battles but its ramadan and i will keep my creativity a bit more in the background for the next 4 weeks.

i will follow the battles and perhaps also give a vote if theres nothing against it...wish u the best.

Only outside samples are my snare & vocals (Billie Holiday). First entry although i've been looting in the background for the past few months. I've only been producing about 6 months~ I think my beats lack a bit of structure, any criticism would be awesome.

OK, my first post on this message board. Hope I'm not doing anything wrong here :)

Congrats to last week's winner!

This is my entry in the battle:

I used some of the samples in the first file, added kick and snare cut from a drum break, screwed around with the field recordings until they sounded like hihats.

Hope you guys like it!

I'll be coming back to this mix a bit later to fix some minor things, but thought I'd just post it now while I let the mix marinate. Used two of the samples (rhodes/harp), some Bobby Womack vocals, piano, synths and a lot of that field recorded stuff.

whats that kinda brazilian sounding sample from?

Here's all the sample info, I'll put this into the first post also.

1. An unnamed track by me :D That's an export of one of my more ambient instrumental songs (minus the drums). No outside sample there.

2. Roger Webb / Ole Kurt Jensen (not sure which one) - Exotica. The song I have on my computer says it's Roger Webb but http://www.youtube.c...h?v=78F6WPe4Jzg has listed it as Ole Kurt Jensen. Same song though.

3. Alan Hawkshaw - Saturn Rings. Couldn't resist putting some Hawkshaw in there, he is one of my favourite composers. Some ultra dope stuff.

4. Nobuo Uematsu - Eclipse of Time (Harp Version). From the soundtrack of the very underrated XBOX360 JRPG Lost Odyssey. Uematsu is a genius and one of my idols. The man composed all the classic Final Fantasy OST's, basically the soundtrack of my childhood.

5. Joe Hisaishi - The Name of Life (Instrumental). From the Spirited Away soundtrack. Hisaishi is another of my Japanese idols. The man behind all the classic Studio Ghibli soundtracks. Beautiful, beautiful music.

Grattis MNSTRMKK!!! Once in a while you get a little peek behind the, often, anonymous alias. Always nice. I listened to the youtube vids. I’m not into hip-hop… but I sounded nice to me.

Even thou I’m ½ Finnish I don’t speak Finnish  :(

This week I sampled direct from my phone into the SP… Its lo-fi and noise time. I added a bass and some bus ambience. #alwaysbringyourSP

Nice samples but I did my best to destroy them...
