Shoutout to Tuff for the win!

Despite the fact that the rules were simple, putting the sample together was pretty rough! Never used anything but outside drums before, so it took me a while to figure it out... but i did pull something out my ass and made this track lol

Only used outside bass and synth, everything else, down to some little weird sounds were from the sample (which was fun to work with btw!)

Hope some of you like it!

P.S. Big up Good Mama for the vote for 377

less than 24 hours and we're already on a second page of beat posts,,

idk why, but that makes me feel like yall put no effort in to your beats

personally i make 4 or 5 different rough drafts for beats, then go through, pick out my favorite, work on the mixing

take a day or two to listen to it over and check for small details

(maybe even show it to some of my friends to see if theyd change anything specific)

and THEN post it up

just makes me wonder if cats on here actually care about the art of beatmaking, or if they just wanna get a name out on a popular forum

i mean, im not gonna listen to a beat that took MAYBE half an hour to make, and then take it seriously

(theres a reason it takes YEARS for some big producers too put together a decent project)

just food for thought.

i WIll LISTEN to every post and i WILL VOTE for the best beat (imo)

but i wouldnt mind seeing some of the dudes on here take a little more time before they start claiming to have made a 'banger'

AND SINCE I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION:

(ill probably get shit for this comment)

but i think all the positive feedback is starting to be a little harmful

i totally understand if you hear a beat that connects with you on  emotional or physical lever

but lets not forget that this is indeed a BATTLE

literally EVERY beat has some generic-ass comment like 'so dope' 'so big' 'so bouncy' 'so grimy'

which gives me absolutely no input on how i could have made it better

i mean, if we're so scared to tell eachother, 'hey man, i didnt really like your beat'

then whats the point of having a BATTLE?

i mean, this last winner is a good example

dont get me wrong, tuffluv made a dopeeee ass beat

but since everyone gave especially positive feedback, it seemed to actually influence the voting process

(no disrespect tuff luv, but based on your lack of response to winning i think even you can agree there were many doper beats)

like i said, its just something to consider for the future

and as always i would love to hear yalls thoughts on this

*this comment was written with nothing but love, for the forum and all who participate in it*

peace

So not everyone works the way you do.. It's not something to get butt hurt over. The cats who are just tryin to "make a name for themselves" usually don't last long here, because that's not what were about. I believe we're about the music, the inspiration and creation. There are many participants here with different styles from different places with different methods. Just because someone made a beat, and it didn't take them 3 days to make/perfect doesn't mean that one someone else hears it they feel it's the dopest beat they've heard that week. And at voting time we voice our feelings! Voting is subjective dude. The one thing I can say that I agree with about your rant is the constructive criticism bit. I for one try to give it where it's needed, and I expect the same from cats on my entries. And I have in fact received constructive critics. Anyway I have a feelin this is gonna turn into a whole discussion on this thread.. Maybe we should move it out of 378 as it's not about this weeks battle it's just about the battles in general.

That's my 2 cents...

Peace

So not everyone works the way you do..

word, sorry didnt mean to come off as upset or annoyed

i do genuinely want whats best for the forum, (cats can throw up there 5min beats all day, which im sure most of them will)

and definitely dont get me twisted; the variety of sounds and styles on this page are what appeals to me the most

id hate it if everyone took the same amount of time, used all the same flips, sampled all the same acapellas, ect.

BUT more often than not the line between creativity and complacency gets crossed

(and i dont mean to limit to the forum specifically,

this is obviously a problem that effects every aspect of art)

all im sayin is that dudes should give their own beat a chance before they ask us too

*******************i do agree that this discussion shouldnt go on in this forum, if anyone has anything to add to this conversation start something up in either the questions or the behind the beat thread

**again, cant stress enough that im only talkin shit cause i love you guys and this forum

yall have put out some of the dopest hip hop ive heard in a long long time and i want it to keep sounding like that

peace!

congrats to the last winner.

here´s mine for this week. i use´d only the sample for this beat. maybe its a lil bit to long.

i guess, the cello at the intro and outro was a plugin.

So... I made this... not really sure what the fuck it is. Pretty certain in terms of musical structural integrity it's hanging by the thinnest of threads. I guess booze and other drugs will do that.

No external samples besides bass and monologue.

Enjoy... or don't... whatever.

Peace!

...Well Allan Good...  I think you mean well... you just worded it a bit crude...

...Some people have jobs, familly...stuff!!  to tend to... priorities...

...Plus as I've noticed myself... what used to take me saturday through wednesday to figure out takes me much less time now...

...If a superdope microwavebeat would win just coz it's superdope... who's gonna argue with that?

...This beatbattle is for everyone to enjoy... I understand what you mean... but i'm already happy if people respect the rules...

...and there's no minimum time on beats spent rule... just the maximum ;)

i can respect that,

i spend most of my time makin beats on my breaks at work or late at night when i should be sleeping for tomorrows shift

and i didnt mean to insult anyone that has posted a beat already

theres definitely already a bunch of dope material thats been posted in the past 2 days

i just felt like if everyone took an extra second or two to post-process their beats, the listeners would be happier and the producers themselves would be happier with what comes of it

i remember last week we had quite a few dudes take down beats to 'tweak' them then reposted them (which if im not mistaken is against the 'rules')

and i feel that stuff like that could have been avoided with just a second listen

as i said before, im only sayin this to try and help the quality of the forum,

but if all im doing is pissing people off then i will respectfully put my foot in my mouth

i rarely spend more than 2-3  hours on a beat .. why should that be different when i do stbb?

all i'm getting at is i dont think someone posting something early means they didnt spend time on it. it doesn't show a lack of caring, as you're assuming.

many "classics" were made in 20 minutes according to their creators.

people get so caught up in "time" when all that really matters is what it sounds like.

so maybe those "unpolished" or "rushed" beats would sound even WORSE if those beatmakers spent a full week over working it.. you get what im getting at??

the fact that the sample was posted and mad people have posted beats just mean we got a productive crew of beatmakers getting bizzy and ready to work on their craft! (not people who dont care....) im sure there are people on here who would flip 2 battle joints a week if we could hahaha
