damn lay off the bass a little.  dope sample and good vibes on the drums.  i know the tendency to want to crank the bass, but your track can kick without being so muddy

You need to add some rap vocal cuts and some scratches.

I'm not saying that because I have ADHD and can't stay focused on a track for more than ten seconds. Itsnot about 'holding the listeners attention' its just about bringing that shit to life and making it mean something.

I'll lower it down... it's not even mixed, I had to run off to an event so i'm going to get back to it in a bit

I don't really have speakers so I can't tell how crazy the bass is... i'm using built in lap top speakers and headphones.. but i'll bring that down a bit

I don't really do a lot of vocal cuts, my beats are more for rapping on, but I can attempt to throw some shit on there.... I try to find other ways to keep the listeners attention.... I was listening to dilla when I made this so I tried to keep it simple.

Rappers can still rap over vocal cuts. Especially if you use them as the chorus.

Oh and stop using laptop speakers to make your beats. That's just retarded.

Shouldn't really produce on headphones either. Invest in a nice studio monitor set it'll hella improve your sound

They're great. My main homeboy guts the cutter suggested them to me. Really happy with em. As far as bass...... They're not really the best if you wanna do like joker style dub or something like that. But more than good enough on low mids and normal low end

yeah I heard they lack a bit in the low end, but the HS8s are pretty much all you really need if you're doing things at home... low end is def better on that and I think its a wider freq range as well.

Since you digitize most of those dope records you find maybe you can sell enough to scrape up the money to cop those monitors. I've recently started selling and trading some of my records to improve my collection and it is definitely worth it. Just a suggestion.
