I eq'd the beat with software, then ran it through the 404 compressor and fx, straight to cassette tape and then bounced back.

Oh sweet, I have never done that before.
I would love to hear the pre cassette mix, just to get an idea of its effect. Did it just make it warmer, platter, more analog etc?

there is no more pre-cassette mix, but I can say the overall effect was fairly minimal. basically it just made it warmer and took a lot of the sharp, digital edge off. I try different techniques if I have a non-vinyl sample sometimes.

Yah,
It really amazes me how many producers leave in that sharp sound.
Warm and round is so much better than cold and sharp.
