holy fuck, finally...how long has it been since my last tape?  a whole year pretty much?  well the wait is over, you good little STMB'ers.  i'm releasing a free EP sometime very soon (i don't wanna give an actual release date until i'm finished with my music video), but until then you can enjoy this album artwork i did for it.

later this summer i'll be releasing a full-length to-be-announced album along with this, so this will be the appetizer to that main course of music.  but make no mistake, i didn't just put shitty B-sides on this project...i've been painstakingly crafting these tracks for the past 6-9 months in between film school and operating as an AV manager for a public building on a college campus.  so yeah.  schekchdhc it out.  updates to come real soon...

so, big big big updates on this project:

at one point last week i was seriously considering calling it quits with music and just solely focusing on film from here on out...my plan would've been to release all the stuff i've been holding onto, for free, and polishing it up the best i could before i closed the chapter on this part of my life.  then i looked in my record collection, pulled out one of my issues of Debut LP/Magazine (the mag that used to come with a record) and listened to the B-side.

instantly i fell in love with a track on there by the obscure group Torch Song, and ended up flipping that into a beat on the spot with my 404.  then i started going into my back catalog of unreleased beats i've always deemed too shitty for public consumption, to try and figure out why those were failed beats.  long story short, i realized it was because they were all way too fast; after pitching them down, i found myself surrounded by amazing new beats i could use, and decided to start writing several new tracks all over again.

which leads me to this: i am proud to announce that Staycation has been expanded upon into a full-length conceptual album, which will see a release by _________________ sometime in the very near future (not sure if i should disclose who's releasing it yet), probably early next year.

there are talks of a possible physical release...

and i am glad to say that my heart is (for now) fully back into the music.  although semester's about to start, so it's probably gonna take a backseat to all the film shit i have to do once that gets going--  but there will be music videos, and 1-2 guest features.  i'll be uploading the tracklist shortly, and hopefully a lead single sometime very soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

Great news JF

I really enjoyed the tape with all those 'fronkenschteen' samples through it... Will keep checking for this.

Recycling bits of old beats is something I really like too. I've got a bunch of project files from 5-8-10 years ago that I occasionally go back through. Obviously your taste and skill level changes over time and a lot of the time it's like 'Mayan, this sucks except for HOLY SHIT THAT BIT RIGHT THERE'

Heh anyway

so, i'm proud to announce more news:

Staycation, in its most recent, expanded form, will be among the lineup of debut releases from fellow STMB'er SunnyMeadowz's new label Bakers' Hour Records & Tapes sometime early next year.  there are still talks of a physical release, although kinks have to be worked out logistically still.

either way, expect the official release of Staycation sometime early next year...and till then, there will be a single or two and possibly an accompanying music video.  but i guess we'll just have to see if i can work that into my already busy schedule.  anyway, that's it-- hope you guys stay pumped for it up until then, it's gotten really good feedback from people i've shown so far.
