Yeah I take people commenting on my beats as a pretty big deal. The fact they took the time to listen and comment... I appreciate that shit. People just throwing out comments because it's a rule would ruin the genuineness.

Nah man you would know firstly who is listening is involved, also with your little tag stuck on every tune it shows you have listened, I have a night shift job a child, a house to maintain a business I'm starting, and when I'm in, I comment on everyone's tracks, and it will be honest, you got nearly a whole week, if no-one can spend 15 mins a day, "If they have entered I think it's pretty weak".

To me we are a community and it can't thrive if we're not talking to each other (Always thought Hiphop is communication), you can't improve, you can if someone jumps in and says, tidy your game up, your picking the wrong drums, your biting Dilla or Flylo. The comments are quick and easy, if you listen to 30 seconds fair enough, there's a lot that grates on your ears, but it doesn't even take 30 seconds to type a comment. Also its fun, you can get to know other beat makers, and you don't know what could come from that. I told someone they picked the wrong kick for his tune, we had a huge row, and now I'm in contact with him and gonna do some stuff.

Like the Vote maybe top 3 though we'll end up with loads of pages to count votes especially if it's like 70 votes.

When any of us do anything, it should be all or nothing and your whole heart put into, corny yes, cheesy yes, but it tends to be true, what you put in, will come back ten fold.

I'm just too darn tired to go in depth this round but I liked quite a few of these entries.

But my mind is set and I gotta vote for my man

Breakmaster  for being just too awesome

Frankly I don't even listen to more than 30 seconds if it's just another dik riding non creative joint sooooo.... If anybody's like me than forcing a comment on everything would feel disingenuous. Maybe I'm a prick but dudes. I got school work and a girl I can't be taking five hours of time on a Thursday to play everyone's beat

exactamundo.

for me, leaving a comment or favoriting a beat is a sure sign that you're in the running for my top list that week.  if you didn't get a comment...either i slept on your beat accidentally, or i purposely listened to it and said "mehh".  sorry for being blunt but this isn't Pre-K, we're all mature adults that can handle negative feedback or implied negative feedback (i think).

what really gets me pissed are the shameless self-promoters on there who do things like post multiple beats, without tagging the STBB's, spamming other people's beats in the comments with links to their whack shit, and/or failing to follow the simplest of rules like use the damn required sample.  my producing persona doesn't have mod status, but i sure as hell do, and if i see any of those shenanigans from this point forward i'm banning said people from the group right then and there.  i'll let people appeal it to whichever of the mods wants to deal with that shit, but i'm going to rule with an iron fist because i'm tired of being nice and seeing the same shit happen again and again.

Dude we haven't got any rules, look at that post for seasoned beat makers, nothings changed, we need to revolt big time, and who are the 3 big names styles Homie, just wondering if it's the same as what I was thinking.

in my mind, it'd be (obviously) : (1) J Dilla/Madlib ( 2 ) Flying Lotus/Brainfeeder & Co. ...and surprisingly (3) Shlohmo/WeDidIt Collective, which is a new one i've only noticed in the two weeks i've been back...but yeah, i've been hearing a shitload of downtempo Clams Casino-sounding beats--which is pretty refreshing i guess, but even that can get old after a while.

Agreed. But honestly I think everyone commenting on everything will deduct from a community feel. A community is about being real with people, telling them when their shits hot and when it's not. I just won't know who's commenting for the sake of following the rules or who actually means it. If I want to build relationships with dudes and treat it like a community then I need to know who's being real with me. Sometimes it's not even that a beat's bad or biting a style, it just dosent do it for me... I don't find myself bopping my head to it, technically (drums, melodies etc) it could be on point but maybe I just dont like the style... And I don't want to leave comments like 'nice beat but I hate elevator music', know what I mean..? But I'm open to whatever, I'm new to this forum and making beats in general, only been doing this shit about 4 weeks so will go all in if you guys think that's what this thing needs, all or nothing.

3 vote sounds fine, also :)

Peace.

Wow. I heard some great shit this week. I liked so many. And I loved a bunch. Here's my top 5

5. JahRa (Nice and upbeat. I like some lighter stuff too, and this was dope.)

4. fivepee (I love little skits like this. It's just straight up dope.)

3. ...Yon... (I really liked this one. It had all kinds of dope complexities in the background, and little touches that it made it a favorite. Amazing...

2. Zhu (Fantastic. He put this one together fantastically. This is about as dope as it gets.

1. Good F. Nella (This IS as dope as it gets. Love the vocal sample at the beginning, the loops. The crackling. The drums. The one shots. Everything. This is just amazing.

So, congratulations to GOOD FELLA NELLA for getting my vote.

How about we make it so you only HAVE to listen to these beats in order to vote? That way we get the forum more involved (hopefully) and shameless battlers that come out of nowhere and then don't vote stop mattering

...briljant idea ;)

...Wih the hazard of sounding like a smart alec... I raised this idea plenty of times I think...  even that seems to hard to implement...

If you read the Topic start of 374 I even put it in there!... Didn't really feel like enforcing it with nobody noticing it in the first place...

It seems like the easiest rule to uphold though...  Just don't go the SC page straight away anymore...always  click on from this board...

Let's start with this one simple little thing... let's see how it works!!!

If we can't get this done I'm not gonna try and change things anymore...  too damn frustrating

peazy J

Congrats to.... the winner this week! :)

gonna give it to BREAKMASTER CYLINDER

but i have to give a shout out to FLEAT. for that drop.

im fairly new to these battles,

but i noticed a definite rise in tensions during this battle

(not by any fault of the host)

people seemed to be especially concerned with the technicalities and less with the battle itself

i dont really have a point to make; i just hope, in the future we can be less like:

18s16u3yen7z4jpg.jpg

and more like:

mohandas_gandhi.jpg

but either way, this battle had some dope ass music come out of it

many thanks and props to all who participated

see yall next week

peace

...haha Alan... luckily your "too"  late vote didn't influence the end result ...else we'd have a new sort of problem ;)...

That's why there are rules...

Congratulations Breakmaster!!!
