I don't understand your perspective on PCs mangoes. You think you have to be some engineer to use them? That's fucking ridiculous

My experience with PCs, they get infected, crash, and run super duper slow after a year or two.

Macs: run just as fast and fine for as long as I have them.

PCs: all types of random third party software that clutters everything.

Macs: have solid software etc, better for profeessional use, generally speaking.

I know people can get tricked out PCs and they can do hard core stuff for sure in any aspect that a Mac can, but my experince is just as I said, you need to be able to physically update the hardware, and they are super suceptable, in my expereine to virus, and just getting really clunky after a while.

If you are a PC nerd please forgive me but I just prefer everything about the Mac. Its easier, sexier, less hassle blah blah blah. Plus, I can hang at Starbucks. I wouldnt be caught dead with a PC in there.

i've gotta say, my favorite thing about this message board is watching a thread slowly devolve until it's virtually impossible to fix and everyone just kinda ditches it and moves on to something else.

case in point, this ^^^

i gotta bock up mangoes on this - I've been working on Apple Macs for 22 yrs, never had a virus problem, never had a problem with them slowing down over time etc. Plus the user-friendly interface made them a dream to work on. Microsoft PCs have become more and more like Apples over time, copying a lot of the Mac features to make them more user-friendly and they're still total shit.

I've worked with plenty of Microsoft/Windows/PCs too over the years, loads of virus probems, soundcard problems, connector problems, loads of crap software with shitty interfaces and frankly I never got on with them.

As hard as they try to bite Apple's style, Microsoft/Windows/PCs are still the 2nd choice of the creative professional. There's a reason they are more expensive. it's because they're better. You can say it's down to personal choice if you like, but if you could afford one, you'd get a Mac...

having said all that, Apple have become something of a corporate ogre these days, ethics out of the window.

But compare the iPod to almost any other protable mp3 player and the evidence of quality design & manufacture is plain to see.

oh and Broking is correct in a nitpicky sort of way, a Mac is a PC. A Personal Computer.

Right, so, my bad, I associated PC with as windows, not Mac.

Having said that, I fully agree with Jimmy. Apple is a tightly run ship. It was designed by designers, people who considered every element to make the experience easy. I bought a Microsoft, Windows computer back in 01 and it was crazy. First the store was sketchy, out in the boonies. It felt like buying a car, not anything like the Apple store of today, which we pleasurable. The computer came with all types of various third party software and hardware. It was difficult getting everything running.

After about a year it had dropped in performance significantly. Going back to where we bought it was something I wanted to avoid at all costs.

So yah, that's just one little tidbit of why I prefer Macs.

Hmm wonder the fuck why mangoes. I'll bet the desktop was full of files and the HDD was 80% full. I'll bet you bought a junky discount dell with 256 mb of memory. no computer just randomly goes slow with time, there are physical things you the user do to fuck them up. Sorry for going nuts but I fucking hate the apple cult

hey Grifty, you don't need to apologise 'cos I'm a moron. lol.

just a moron who wants to USE the computer for what it's intended for and enjoy the experience, not have to worry about (or pay for) virus protection and security software. I'd rather be a stone age simpleton than a spotty IT geek any day of the week.

That's cool, I'm feeling you. it's just that i LOVE opening and downloading random shit off the internet with impunity.

I wasn't calling you a geek anyway. I notice that you didn't deny being spotty though...

btw did you ever work on a Mac? I mean for any length of time.

My experience is that pretty much anyone who has had the chance to extensively work on both platforms will tell you the same thing - Mac is a nicer experience. People use the overpriced thing as an excuse but if you look closer the value for money is closely matched. For sure a Mac laptop will be cost more than a Windows one with the same or similar spec, but then you only have to look at build qualty design and materials. aluminium vs plastic.

Once you've had Mac, you never turn back.

yeah i've spent plenty of time at school on macs.  osx is stupid.  it's the same as windows, only shittier.  well ok, that's all opinion and i've gone in to some pretty trolly territory right there.  but there's no doubting that mac's are INCREDIBLY overpriced for the same shit.  they do all the same things only apple has a "grown-up" there to hold your hand

whatever dude.  you can waste your money for the rest of your life on some overhyped crap.  but to my eyes the only thing different is a minor graphics card upgrade with the mac (oh yeah and their fucking retina disply which i'll admit looks nice but not 1500 bucks nice)

exactly. you're welcome to your opinion, whatever works for you is cool.

I'd hate to see your reaction if I insulted your mother instead of your motherboard lol.

it's funny, i just looked at those laptop links you posted and you may have a point on that one - shit, the mac doesn't even have a cd/dvd-drive. incredible. to me that's just plain stupid. They've gone too far this time.

Windows 8 still sucks though. well in my opinion anyway.

this kind of proves my point about mac being the choice of creatives.

pc users can't even think up their own posts, have to borrow from others lol.

I thought we'd moved on from this, but thank you for your valued contribution anyway.
