Share your RSD2014 experience here.

- what city are you shopping in?
- anything in particular you're looking forward to?
- share pictures/ video from your experience!

(Please excuse the fact I created this post in the Stones Throw topic section).

my nearest participating store is about 300 miles away, so for me the whole thing is an exercise in frustration.

based on my experience of record store employees (I was one myself), all the really good stuff will never see the shop floor and will be saved for their friends.

there's a few things i'd really like to get my hands on, most notably the placebo reissue albums, i'll just have to keep an eye out on various online stores over the next couple of weeks. hard to believe that 1500 copies of each of those will all sell out in one day.

Elk Grove, CA - Smaller town outside of Sacramento
Most people were very nice, some a little assertive.
People would hand other people what they wanted.
I got some loot, but no hip hop.

Couple pictures from today, visited 360 Vinyl in Portland (Great shop, the owner's awesome). Not a very big fan of what RSD has become, but I still do always like to make the trip later in the day to support local shops

Yeah the owner of the shop who I've gotten to know a bit recommended that one when we were talking about JJ's other album Three Piece Puzzle a few weeks ago, finally came by to pick it up. Didn't know about the album or him being called Dr. Who Dat for that project. Def lots of great stuff on there, even better than Three Piece Puzzle imo

Edit: My favorite beat here, I know this has been on TV or something before but not sure where (maybe adult swim?)

Also, picked up the Del album mainly for this track lol

oh, DUDE-- if you're not familiar with that album, then definitely check out "Elephant Stomp"...you will be pleasantly surprised at what it is (that's the whole reason i put the winky face, i thought you were on the up-and-up with that beat tape lol).

Oh no I have been listening to it for the past few weeks, just finally got it on wax. Checked out the title, Elephant Stomp is actually not on this record/tape, but on another mixtape WHODAT Radio - http://www.freshsele...net/whodatradio . Crazy that the JJDOOM beat is so old lol, gonna have to download that tape later tonight.

I never go to these events cus the Midwest never carries anything different. I'd love to go on the west coast and shop tho! Portland knows what's up.

Eureka, CA. I went a little crazy. I got two shops I frequently shop at and hot them both up. First one I got the tame impala live record, the atmosphere picture disc and the OFF! 7". The second shop I went to and told myself not to buy anything but walked out with the black milk album, the Mayer Hawthorne 7" split and a Paramore album for my wife because I spent too much. I might sell it though. Saw it going for good prices on ebay as auctions. I'll post pictures when I get a chance.

The Jay Dee cassette on the cover of the LP would be justified at that rate

Not a very big fan of what RSD has become

I was thinking about making it a tradition to go thrift store digging on RSD from now on...

I get what you are saying about it being a hipster thing but I'm a big fan of tame impala and I'm glad I got it today it's already going for double on eBay. Most rsd releases are for the pitchfork type bands. Plus Mayer Hawthorne and black milk are added bonuses.

I'll usually visit shops later after the RSD crowd is gone unless there's something I must have

Totally forgot to grab this today and I'm pissed. The prices for most RSD stuff drops a lot after the hype is gone, but I wanted to listen to this one today lol - Hopefully can pick up soon at normal price

Yeah I just got back from one of the shops and had the joy of shopping without the crowds. I picked up White Sands finally and was psyched to find a used copy of Big Mike's 'Something Serious' promo LP.

That's what I did today. Ended up buying more books than records though. My RSD holiday spirit is lacking.

I did pretty well this morning. It was just fun to get some re-issue classic rock and some Side by Side 45s (original song w/ cover of that song). I grabbed a few other things so I had something to trade with in the future. But I went back tonight near closing time and
got a prize:

Good to look through the scrapes and find a gem. Another Jazz artist to explore...

Great minds think alike or something...

Dude, I was smoking and listening to the EP last night and all I thought was 'I need the instrumental for "I Saw A World"!' that shit cray indeed. Definitely a great release from HS. I'm really digging the whole one producer EP thing he's been doing for the last year now. I'm not sure if he's planning on putting anymore of these type of EPs out but I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that this tradition continues. In fact I would love to see HS and The Wayniac team up on one of these EPs with maybe a couple guest verses from JW himself.
